Chitchat Singapore Cabinet Minister Advises Mark Zuckerberg

An honorable member of the Coffee Shop Has Just Posted the Following:

We all heard about Facebook and Mark Zuckerberg. The World however probably has no clue about who Singapore's Cabinet Ministers are and if asked to name one, they will probably name a dead one.

Then one day in late February I came across a email message that sarcastically eluded to our Minister for Foreign Affairs advising Mark Zuckerberg on new technology. As it did not make sense, I ignored it. That email made couple of rounds and I still did not get it neither did others that I spoke to.

Then I saw this excerpt from the man's own speech (from the horse's mouth)and in his own words and its floored me;

"Let me go to another field, Virtual and Augmented Reality (VR and AR). The Prime Minister and I visited Facebook two months ago and Mark Zuckerberg was proudly showing the Oculus Rift VR headset – and it’s pretty good. They have improved it so you don’t get seasick anymore and the gameplay is more interesting. But I told Mark that actually, the real killer app for VR is not games – it’s actually virtual sex. Mark looked at me quizzically: “You mean porn?” I said “No, but stop to think about it - in fact it is the porn industry that probably first led to internet commerce on a big scale”. If you were to think about AR and virtual sex from a medical point of view – it’s going to be safe sex as well! There is actually an important message behind this; if you can successfully master virtual sex in AR, you would have devised the ultimate user experience (UX). So VR and AR is another area that is exploding."

This is the same guy who in his maiden speech in Parliament gave notice that he will change the PAP from the inside and delivered the paper on the need for Casinos. This is the same man who told the dangers of bar-top dancing to the country and we listened with concern. This is the same man that spent $300m on YOG and provided disgraceful and cheap meals to students volunteers resulting in 21 volunteers going down with food poisoning. This is the same man that got offended when MP Lily Neo asked for an additional $4 to bring it to $9 from $5 for 3 decent meals a day for those who are welfare recipients. Thats means $3 a meal x 3. This is same man who threatened to bring the big business and tycoons domiciled in Singapore and who owned Indonesian firms causing the haze to account for and accomplished nothing in the end. This is the man the Prime Minister had to move to the Foreign Ministry to reduce the angst caused by his series of highly damaging domestic gaffes. This is the man whose own party cadres have no faith that he had to be repeatedly co-opted to the CEC until Prime Minister gave up at the last CEC.

And this man advising Zuckerberg and of all things making a massive jump from the vice of bar top dancing to virtual sex.
