Marks and Spencer chicken covered in 'excrement-like substance'

A pensioner got a nasty surprise when she started to cook a Marks and Spencer chicken only to find it was full of WASTE.

A pensioner opened up a chicken from M&S to find it was covered in poo Marjorie Pearson, 64, said she felt sick when, upon closer inspection of a chicken she had purchased from Marks and Spencer, she noticed her soon-to-be dinner was covered in waste.
The pensioner has spoken out about the moment she saw the substance pouring out of the bird she was about to cook for her family.

Speaking out, she said: "I was about to cook it when part of the bag caught on the side of the oven and tore. I was going to just take it out and put it in some foil when I noticed a little mark like a bruise.

"I tried to just scratch it off and then the skin opened and out it poured. It looked like baby poo. I was just disgusted, I felt sick."
The County Durham resident was all set to cook the chicken for her husband Geoffrey, 63, and their grandson Daniel, 21, who lives with them.

The grandmother explained: "I called Geoff and said you need to see the state of this chicken. Nobody can believe it when they see the pictures.
"It's just not what you expect from Marks and Spencer's. We've shopped there for years, people trust them."
Unfortunately, the dramas don't stop there. While Marjorie was unsure what to do with her discovery at first, she plucked up the courage to email the store with a picture of the 'meal'.
The customer services team responded to Marjorie's shocking email and simply offered the OAP a £20 voucher.
The email did say, however, M&S were sorry she had an "unpleasant experience".
It reads: "Thank you for your further email, please accept my apologies for the delay in my response. I've now had a response from our suppliers and technologists regarding the unpleasant substance you found in your chicken.

It wold be safe to say, Marjorie was not impressed "They have advised that the substance you found is crop material. The crop is normally empty on arrival, as the birds are usually given a sufficient period of time in which to digest the feed. However, they have advised some birds may occasionally eat stray feed prior to catching.
"I'm sorry you've had an unpleasant experience, but I hope my email has been able to offer you some reassurance."
When Marjorie wrote back to tell them that she was unhappy with the derisory amount they responded with: "After reviewing your case, we feel that that amount sent is both fair and consistent for a complaint of your nature."
Marjorie said: "I don't feel it is at all fair when I think about the harm it could have caused us. I can't help but keep thinking that if the bag hadn't caught on the oven and I had just cooked it, we might not have noticed it. It makes me feel absolutely sick.
