Chlamydia???
i have been having episodes of frequent urination on and off for more than 1year
sometimes going like every hour, sometimes every two hour, except at night waking up 1-2 times in my early forties, incidently, whenever this frequent urination episodes happen, I feel a weird sore on my left side, on the back near the kidneys, on the left groin and maybe under the testicles and even left side of the bladder Have went for blood and urine culture, even ultrasound for kidney stones but found nothing so far, could It be chlamydia? Maybe Dr Tan can advice. there is no blood or painful urination but I heard not everyone with chlamydia will show all the symptons if any at all.. |

Re: Chlamydia???
thanks for the reply
I did a check on the prostate, its not enlarged, and I did a prostate cancer maker test too, again its negative I got a feeling besides STD, it could be some urine flow constriction somewhere on the left side, but I don't know what kind of specialist to see and how much the medical bills gonna be doing all the expensive CT Scans etc |

Try cutting down on coffee/tea/alcohol. If the symptoms disappear, then you'll have found out the cause.

Re: Chlamydia???
Urinary frequency is a symptom of bladder irritation.
The fact that this is associated with discomfort in the left loin suggests the presence of a stone. You did an Ultrasound scan of the Kidney Ureter and Bladder which did not find any stones. But honestly, I have seen US scans miss stones before. In fact, in a recent patient of mine, the US scan missed a 1cm stone!!!!! So should you do a CT KUB scan? Yes you should. It should cost in the range of $300 to $400. Assuming the left sided loin discomfort is not significant, the other common cause of urinary frequency is infection. This infection can be in the bladder or in the prostate. Can it be Chlamydia or any other infection (STD or non-STD) hiding in the prostate? Yes it can. You would need to test your Expressed Prostatic Secretions for that. The other common cause of urinary frequency is bladder outlet obstruction. You are in your 40s so there is a chance your prostate is enlarged. I know you checked your prostate and it is not enlarged but sometimes the prostate is not overall enlarged but a particular lobe is jutting out into the bladder neck. So you will get symptoms of bladder outlet obstruction with a overall normal sized prostate gland. Less common causes are issues with the bladder itself which include over-active bladder syndrome, interstitial cystitis and bladder cancer. Even more rarely, urinary frequency can be a symptom of other health conditions not related to the urinary system at all like anxiety and hyper-active thyroid. |

Re: Chlamydia???
kudos to Dr Tan again for the well informed reply
I am tempted to do the CT KUL Scan but really the pain is not significant, its more like a niggling dull soreness, I read somewhere if it is really kidney stones it will be very very painful Please comment I would like to do a chlamydia test but I was on flu medication just a while back and I was given anitbiotics zyhtromax, would the results still show positive if it was really chlamydia? Please comment I did a google search and I believe my urine culture was just for normal bacteria not an specific STD test like chlamydia as I read for chlamydia the culture test will take 5-7 days, I got my test within 3 days am I correct? Lastly, if it is some constriction somewhere in my urinary system, be it from the ureter all the way to the bladder and uretha, what kind of options do I have to check? |
