Interesting article from TNP 1/5/06

LAST Sunday, this paper ran a news feature on the increasing number of wives who like to keep men on the side for 'fun'.

It talked of a wife who liked variety.

I can tell you that I got extremely upset reading that article. No, not because it showed a decay in the moral fibre of our society (I blame reality TV for that).


I'm incensed because it was such an unprofessional piece of journalism.

One of the key purposes of a newspaper is to inform the public. That feature failed to provide me with the one most pertinent information any reader would want after reading it.

Who is that woman and what is her phone number?

Of course, to an enlightened male such as myself, this news of more women cheating on their husbands is not surprising.

Men have never been able to realise when their women are playing tongue hockey with the gardener when they are out there bringing home the bacon.

I'm kidding of course, because Singaporean wives would never fool around with their gardener, mostly for the following reasons:

1) Most Singaporean homes have no garden;

2) Gardeners here do not look anything like the one in Desperate Housewives.

The fact remains that a man simply doesn't have a clue when his woman is practising the art of seduction with that new colleague of hers.

Women, on the other hand, don't have this problem, mostly because they are all psychic. Just think about another woman and it will trigger their sixth sense.

This was how filmmaker M Night Shyamalan got his inspiration for the movie The Sixth Sense. He went home one day after fantasising about an actress and found his wife standing in the corridor going: 'I see a dead person.'

The reasons why men are clueless are many, but I've managed to narrow them down to a few.

a) Men have big egos
They always believe that their wives have married the best man possible. And after she's had the best, why would she go for anything less?

When men look at themselves in the mirror, they always see Brad Pitt looking back at them, even when their six-pack abs have merged into one giant blob as a result of too many beers.

Men always think they are numero uno despite the fact that at our weddings, it is clearly spelt out to us that we are not the best man.

As such, it is unfathomable to men that their women could possibly want to wake up to anything less than the god lying next to them.

b) Men are stupid
See, men believe anything their women tell them.

When they say that they are working late again for the fifth night in a row, men don't think: 'Hmm, how coincidental that all these late nights started when that handsome new colleague of hers joined the firm five days ago.'

No, they simply think: 'All right! Another night with my Xbox 360.'

Even when she comes home reeking of alcohol and cigarette smoke, all men will think is: 'Say, that's a new scent she put on today.'

c) Men are weak
When she is dressed to kill and ready to go out, just try asking: 'Honey, where are you going?'

All she has to do is stare at you real hard and say: 'Are you telling me that after a hard day's work and coming home to clean up YOUR mess, I can't go out with my friends to unwind? How would you like to sleep on the sofa for the next month?'

Before you know it, these words come out of any man's mouth, 'I'm sorry, please enjoy yourself.'

How did that song go? If you want to be happy for the rest of your life, never make a pretty woman your wife.

If you want to be even happier, make her somebody else's wife and just sit back and wait.

Thanks for the article. Actually there are more and more woman nowadays having fun outside their family life.

I got a friend whom just broke off with his gf of 6mths becos he found that that during this 6mths, his gf actually had another bf of 2yrs. He was actually being made into a 3rd parties by this gal.

Sad case..haiz..really no more moral to talk about in this society anymore.

All of the above are your own unfortunate experiences is it? I don't believe that's how my brothers here would react. Well, at least I don't. I'm not married, but I've been living with my girlfriend for the last 4 years. So that makes me more or less married, just without the cert to prove it.

With a) I never see Brad Pitt, I always see Danny DeVito, therefore, I have a valid excuse to go out and find another blonde because I never know when this current blonde is gonna leave me. Must always have a spare mah.

With b) Bro, that's just you is it? After 2 weeks into the relationship, I didn't believe anything that came out of her mouth, in fact, I started thinking in the opposite sense to whatever she said, ie. no = yes, i'm going to buy beer for you = i'm going to out to buy shoes with your beer money etc

With c) Ha! I dunno about you lah, but I've said this to a response of "I'm going out with friends, I dun need to tell you everytime I go out" My line?

"Do me a favour dear, don't ever come back, sayonara"

Which is why you need to do (a) every week.

This is just my opinion lah, dunno what the other bros think?

While most people wish that their wife will stay faithful, the fact that the super fast pace of today life will make human beings lust for new things even faster.
Faster Computers, HP with better functions, digital cam with higher pixel, bigger & faster car, go geylang bonk many pretty chicks from all around the world( LOS, PRC, Viet,Malaysia, etc.), any so many other things waiting ard.

Wat we fail to realize is this lust not only affects men, it also goes into the minds of women be it working or stay home mothers. So unless u can focus all ur energy on ur CO all day long, ur CO will still be fascinated by the world out there. So between CO and the world, how many would actually give up the world?
