Updated: Sunday May 24, 2015 MYT 9:35:24 PM Malaysia repeats stand of no claim over Sabah by ruben sario KOTA KINABALU: Malaysia is reiterating its stand that it does not recognise any claim over Sabah. Wisma Putra said Sabah had been recognised by the United Nations and international community as being part of Malaysia since Sept 16, 1963. This was the message Malaysia conveyed to Philippines charge d’affaires Merdardo G Macaraig who was summoned to the Foreign Ministry on May 19. The Ministry said in a statement that Macaraig was summond in the wake of a statement by Philippine president Benigno Aquino III that he had no intention to drop his country’s claim over Sabah. Aquino said this in an interview with Philippines journalist Raissa Robbles on May 15. The Philippine President had remarked on Philippines' claim on Sabah in an interview by Ms Raissa Robles for the South China Morning Post on May 15. In the interview, President Aquino had stated that he would not drop Philippine's claim to Sabah, contrary to what critics of his centerpiece legislation on Muslim autonomy - the Bangsamoro Basic Law - are saying. Malaysia's MFA on Sunday reiterated in a statement "its position that Malaysia does not recognise and will not entertain any claims by any party on Sabah".
