LTA: OUR CONTRACTOR SHOULD HAVE FINED THE CARS PARKED ILLEGALLY OUTSIDE SIGLAP CC

Background Story: LTA Officer Refuses to Issue Summons to Illegally Parked Cars outside Siglap CC
Following media queries about a viral video showing an LTA officer refusing to fine cars parked illegally outside Siglap South Community Centre, LTA has responded saying that the officer should indeed have fined the cars.

It explained that it is possible for event organisers to apply for special parking approvals from LTA but the event at the CC that day had not done so.

Such approvals are possible to be made for designated sections of road for designated time periods fo revents such as large gatherings for places of worship or school events.
LTA will consider each application on its merits taking into account the impact on traffic flow as well as safety and other considerations.

LTA also shared that they have taken the necesary action agianst the LTA officer involved.

The video, recorded by an angry Singaporean showed a number of cars illegally parked outside the CC but an LTA officer refusing to summon them despite a passerby pointing out to him that they were illegally parked.

The person who uploaded the video also shared that the CC was at that time holding an event with a MP in attendance leading to speculation that there was "special rules" applied to the cars.
