The Singapore government has once again introduced another SG50 “gift” for Singaporeans.

For Singaporeans who solemnised their marriage next year, they will receive a SG50 marriage certificate holder.

Parliamentary Secretary for Social and Family Development Low Yen Ling said, “To mark SG50 next year, we have also received suggestions on how we can commemorate the jubilee year with special mementoes to celebrate family life. To this end, the Ministry of Social and Family Development will provide a gift to every Singaporean couple who are getting married in 2015. And the simple gift will be a very memorable one. It is in the form of a specially-designed marriage certificate holder.

“We think this represents their wedded bliss as well as the nation’s joy of turning 50. So in a way, 2015 is a wonderful year, not just for the nation, but for Singaporean couples who are starting their married life together.”

The SG50 marriage certificate holder comes after the SG50 birth certificate which was introduced early last week.

Minister in Prime Minister Office Grace Fu announced that babies born next year will receive a "commemorative" birth certificate and holder, which will come with a special message from the Singapore prime minister.

Babies born next year will also receive a set of eight presents.

The government has revealed SG50 “gifts” for babies and married couples this month. It is expected to unveil further “gifts” in the coming months.

In 1984, after the Singapore government held a year of celebrations for 25-year of self-rule, the general election was held at the end of that year.

Will we also see the next general election held at the end of next year too?
