When asked why the particular type of turf was chosen, he said that this was because: "Singaporeans wanted more sporting events, so we need a field to be rugged and durable enough for heavy programming." Most appalling of all, he claims that this was a unique challenge that no other stadium in the world has ever faced - despite the fact that the Sports Hub is only ONE stadium: "No other stadium in the world has dealt with this combination of challenges." Did Oon Jin Teik learn all this Taichi skills from PAP politicians? What creative excuse will he come up with if the pitch remains sandy for this Tuesday's Japan vs Brazil friendly?
