Junior College Physics Teacher Paul Tan Sze Aik, 37, was jailed for 25 months for having sex with a 14 year old boy that he had met on facebook.

Tan admitted to three charges of committing sexual offences with the young boy who was also sexually involved with another older man.

Undergraduate Suhaimi Shamsudin, 24, was earlier jailed for having sex with the same 14 year old boy.

The court heard that Tan had specifically made a new facebook account with the name “Alegon Kenny Lonewolf”, just to meet new people online.

Using this moniker, Tan sent a facebook friend request to the 14 year old and introduced himself as a 19 year old living alone because his parents were overseas.

They chatted online for quite some time before agreeing to meet up in person.

Tan picked up the boy from a bus interchange in December last year and took him out for lunch before bringing him back to his mother’s flat in Bishan.

Tan was preparing to go overseas the next day so he left the 14 year old alone in his flat while he went out to do some errands. He later returned and picked up the boy to take him out to dinner.
Later that night, the two went into Tan’s bedroom where they engaged in sexual activity.

The court explained that young children need to be protected from sexual exploitation even if they consent to the acts.
District Judge Siva Shanmugam pointed out that Tan knew of the young boys age but still continued to exploit him.
