I noticed that nowadays this forum seems to have a lower number of samsters posting/replying. The Chat Room's number of members also never exceeds 25 at any time.

Thus, I like to suggest to ALL samsters, both old and new, to unite together and break the previous record of the most users logged in, which was during:

"Most users ever online was 1,991, 19-01-2005 at 10:16 AM."

Maybe we can even commemorate this day as TSD, which stands for The Sammyboyforum Day!!

Shall we make it this Saturday, 2359, 12 November 2005?

Will it bring the server down? The chat room is hosted on same server as as forum right?

What the bloody hell are you trying to do????

You know as well as I do that the server struggles to keep up when there are more than 600 simultaneous connections.

If more than 1000 people logged on at the same time, the server would come to a screeching halt and the database could end up permanently corrupted.

You should check with me before you come up with some harebrained idea which does the forum no favours.

The figure of 1991 was established in evaluation mode at a time when the database was considerably smaller.

11 months later, the current setup is close to maxed out during peak hours and I'm already being forced to look for a new server and another investment of USD8000 or more.

The last thing I need is dumbfuck games that revolve around bandwidth and processing capacity.

I do agree with Sam on this, whenever the active users number hits 700 and above (members & guests), its damn difficult to log in, especially from 10.30pm - 12.00 midnight (i consider this as the forum peak hrs). At times, i simply give up..

agree...and this is particularly true at night....performance is really slow....and was unable to log in a couple of times recently....
