Singapore man spends $52,000 to celebrate end of 6-year marriage Monday, March 10, 2014 - 09:39 The Star/Asia News Network SINGAPORE - Nanyang Siang Pau reported that a man in Singapore spent $52,000 to celebrate the end of his six-year marriage. Six friends joined Jeremiah Teh, 44, in the celebration at a karaoke outlet where he spent $47,000. He had earlier splurged $5,000 on his friends at a French restaurant. He also blew out six candles on a cake with the words "Freedom Finally" to signal the end of his marriage. "The sum is not much. If you work out the amount, it's about $10,000 for each year of suffering," said Teh. He said he had attended a friend's divorce party on a yacht three years ago, adding that he found it relaxing and fun. "It is worth celebrating after a failed marriage."
