SUNGKAI: The two primary school pupils, who had bells hung around their necks and allegedly forced to eat grass for failing to complete their homework, returned to school yesterday.
Both Year Four boys were accompanied by their mothers to SJK (C) Khai Meng at 7am.
One of the mothers, Siti Aisyah Hashim, 32, said when she woke her son up to get ready for school, the 10-year-old said he refused to go.
Siti Aisyah said her son had expressed his concern that his friends would tease him and call him "lembu" following Thursday's incident.
"But I told him to inform his teacher if any of his friends teased him."
The boys were thrown into the limelight after their 26-year-old English teacher hung bells around their necks and allegedly told them to eat grass on Thursday for failing to finish their homework, which was pending for the past two weeks.
Prior to hanging bells around their necks, the pupils were said to have been caned by the teacher. The teacher has since been transferred to another school after news of his harsh punishment went public.
In Kangar, Umno Youth chief Khairy Jamaluddin said the teacher should be sacked.
He said the wing viewed the incident seriously and urged the Education Ministry to take stern action against the teacher.
