23 Jan 2014: SINGAPORE: Malaysia's Minister of Foreign Affairs has identified the Malaysian woman who crashed through the security barrier at Singapore's Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA). She is 28-year-old Nurul Ruhana Ishak from Pendang, Kampung Bahru in Kedah. According to a statement from the Malaysian Foreign Affairs Minister, officers from the Malaysian High Commission in Singapore had taken immediate action in establishing contact with Nurul Ruhana. This was to provide the necessary consular assistance to ensure her rights and well-being are protected. The Malaysian Foreign Affairs Minister has requested the Malaysian High Commission in Singapore to continue to monitor the situation. On Monday, Nurul Ruhana had entered Singapore illegally via Woodlands Checkpoint. She drove the Malaysia-registered vehicle through Woodlands Checkpoint without stopping, before heading to MFA's premises along Sherwood Road. MFA said the vehicle entered its front gate without proper authorisation by tailgating another vehicle. The vehicle was eventually stopped by MFA security officers. - CNA/nd 22 Jan 2014: SINGAPORE: The 27-year-old Malaysian woman who was arrested on January 20 at the compound of the Foreign Affairs Ministry (MFA) has been charged with criminal trespass. Responding on Wednesday to queries from Channel NewsAsia, police also said the woman is now remanded at the Institute of Mental Health for psychiatric assessment. Police and the Immigration and Checkpoints Authority announced on Tuesday the arrest of the woman. The authorities said the woman has a history of mental illness. The police had arrested the woman after she allegedly trespassed onto MFA premises. The woman is also under investigation for evasion of immigration clearance.
