An honorable member of the Coffee Shop Has Just Posted the Following:
A former detective, Choo Hock Leng, was fined $50,000 yesterday (21 Aug) for operating an illegal moneylending business. Investigations showed that Choo ran the illegal moneylending business between August 1996 and June 1997, and was, at the time, assisted by Senior Staff Sergeant Tan Lay Hin and Sergeant Goh Cheng Huat. He lent out some $40,000, charging the debtors monthly interest rates of between 10 per cent and 20 per cent. At the time of the offence, he was a detective sergeant with the Singapore Police Force. He resigned in February 1997. His two accomplices, Tan and Goh, have already been dealt with by the law back in 1998. The case took some time to surface in court as Choo was said to be not contactable in Singapore. In actual fact, he was in Singapore all along as his passport was impounded. Choo’s lawyer said that Choo had tried several times to ask the authorities about his case but never managed to get an update each time. http://www.tremeritus.com/2013/08/22...fter-16-years/ http://sporehallofshame.blogspot.sg/...rs-for_22.html Soon our justice system will be like India...hahaha Click here to view the whole thread at www.sammyboy.com. |
