Part 1. Telltale Signs your phone is being tracked

This post is done as a commitment to SBF after years of being a quiet contributor.

As promised- I am posting this thread for the benefit to all SBF Sis and Bros who cheong and who are concerned if their partners are tracking them.

I changed the header from "How to know if you are being tracked by phone", to "Telltale Signs your phone is being tracked"

I actually was in the process in drafting a word doc and after page 7 halfway through typing, my partner walked over to my 32" LCD monitor and read my draft told me that I was giving away too much proprietary intelligence that may harm our CST consulting services. And so I decided to do a brief version straight to the point just enough to get all of you Bros and Sis somehow protected for now, and be a bit more smarter in how you can go about cheonging 'safely'.

As some of the more understanding Bros wrote to me and said they truly understand I am also protecting them from not being too detailed in this "open forum" as there may be AV and Private Investigators here pretending to be Bros and Sis trawling the site for info. So no need to 'benefit these category of people' and then they grow wiser to your own detriment.

The possibility of your phone being tracked is very real. And today there are many many apps/bots out on the market, used by law enforcement agencies, private eyes, to track subjects of interests. Your cell phone is a broadcasting device that just tells people WHERE you are and Where you had been. And at worst, reveals whom you have been talking to, what text you received and sent, what time, what day etc... A trained person can track you REAL TIME or can even trace your History of events. Some of these apps/bots are cheaply available depending on the sophistication level and varying degrees of penetration.

Yes - so suck it up and welcome to the Inter-connected Global World. We love it, but we also hate it for the invasion of privacy.

The following points apply to all SMARTPHONES and 3G phones

Telltale signs your phone is being tracked or about to be tracked

A. When you and your partner/gf/bf/spouse go to dinner alone (just the 2 of you) and you notice that she will either find an excuse to use with your phone (like a pretext to play a game etc..) And now - you need to recall any occasions in the past you went to dinner with your partner/gf/bf/spouse and they did this. Or when you were in the shower was the phone out of your sight? It takes less than 2 minutes to install a BOT manually onto your phone.

B. When you always receive MMS (not SMS, but MMS) of a photo of your gf/bf/partner/spouse. A covert bot is often attached to the MMS and once you open the MMS and view it - it installs to your Apps folder.

I make it a rule NEVER to accept any MMS. Please DO NOT BE STUPID. Birthday wishes, New Year wishes, Xmas wishes, April Fools MMS etc....all of these are simple disguised trojan horses where you do not realized its 'innocence' and open the MMS greetings. OK? get it? Only open MMS from your TRUSTED friends, and not from your partners friends or even family members. Ya - you know what I mean...

C. Go to a quiet room (use a meeting room in the office). Put your phone on MUTE, make sure you tell your trusted friends and colleagues NOT TO CALL YOU or SMS for 1 full afternoon. Put your phone on the table, let your phone go into its Locked and Sleep mode. If the phone sometimes awake from Sleep mode (the screen lights up) even where there is no SMS or incoming call, chances are you already have a BOT spyware already inside your phone.

D. Temperature check. When making or taking calls, the phone gets warm due to signals transmission and receiving. It is usually cool in between calls. If your phone continues to be 'warm' in between calls' that indicates that phone is being monitored in stealth mode and the battery is being powered hence the warm temperature.

E. Your battery drains faster than normal after a full charge. Of course it could be that your battery is old. But take note of the power bar rate of decline.

F. You press to make a call. You can see the display screen and it says Ringing, but you do not hear a ringing tone on your phone. This is a classic symptom of covert call tracking/call hijacking/call logging.

G. Check your Signal Strength Bar.
I make it a habit to always observe my signal strength bar. When I am at a restaurant, or reach a clients office, I let the phone 'settled' into the location look at the signal strength bar. And then later I will monitor to see if the signal bar MOVES up and down. If you see your signal bar moves up and down and you are still seated in the same location - you know - you are being tracked and your phone is monitored for calls.

F. My clients say this is the most common sense rule that they Failed to recognized. This rule applies to women.
Never never never underestimate the power of a woman's intuition. SBF Sisters out there if you are reading this - UP me if you agree. And never never for once think that your gf/wife never and don't have thoughts crossing over their mind if they wondered if you are 'eating outside'. The general rule is, wake up fellas. I read somewhere that Guys think of sex every 5 seconds in a day, and I know a Housewife at home do think about if her hubby is 'eating outside', at least ONCE a Day. I dunno about the working wife.. but it should fall under the same mathematical statistical ratio.

Finding Spyware on your Phone is NOT easy. Because they are not very trackable and can hide in a host of Phone memory. SIM CaRD memory or hidden file folders (like a computer harddisk). Worst still, there are more sophisticated devices THAT DO NO NEED TO HAVE A Bot installed into your phone to track and monitor your phone. (more about that later)

There are hardware and software recording/tracking devices .

Once my female friend told me her BF sent her phone for upgrade and later install a tiny recording transmitter to record her conversations and used that as proof for break off . She was shocked when the BF can know what time who called and the conversations they had . This type of recording device is very small and can fit into necklace/rings/earrings/belts/bags . So better to use anti scanning devices to clear your doubts before you try to engage in any hanky panky .

So when your other half keep asking for your hp/jewelery every few days to download or play w/o you watching, you will know whats happening .

Here are some questions that I have in my mind after reading your post. Hope you will not mind helping me with the answers huh?

1. Does the flickering of signal really implies that the phone has been compromised? 'cos most of the time, I've noticed that the signal bar tends to flicker between 1 or 2 bars ...

2. Is there any way / tool / software that we can use to confirm on whether our phone has been compromised?

3. Let's assume that our phones have been compromised. Apart from buying a new phone, is there any solution to uninstalling the BOT?

4. I often travel regionally, and as such, I have a few different SIM cards that I use with the same phone. So when I change the SIM card, am I still affected by the BOT? Or will the BOT only respond to the original SIM card that it was installed into?

3. Or turn 3G off to get out of the grid.

When I was working overseas, I worked for a Defense Contractor for the Govt (not Sillypore garmen la..) and the Defense Contractor sends every employee on training for CST measures as part of their certification and compliance as a Defense Contractor. I am an "accidental" beneficiary and learnt many techniques in CST.

Honestly what's the problem, any half-way competent guy knows how to search Teh Internets and CSI (etc etc) shows dont help.....

Again, does using a godawful old phone help in anyway againts all this Autobots, Decepticons, Mecha, Go-bots they have this way???? Will switching my home phone to a old "dial" type help?
