There is a time and a place for different types of underwear. I've seen so many posts preferring girls to wear G-strings or thongs. It doesn't work that way. When I wear skirts, there is NO need to wear a thong or a G-string. A boyshorts or french cut knickers is more comfortable and serves a better purpose. No girl in the right mind will wear a thong in winter under their skirt. Simply makes no sense.

Material also plays an important role. Cotton panties are very good for day to day wear. Although in the summer it can absorb perspiration and gets rather icky. The other thing is the likelihood of cotton panties to start balling up and makes it look old.
Lycra for me is an excellent material for panties. It's cool in heat and provides a good clingy feel. Lace is pretty much one of those things for special occasions. If I know I'll be having to entertain my boyfriend immediately after coming home, or in a hotel room somewhere, it is ok to wear but I don't particularly like to take it off and put on again. Lace is a fresh material which needs to be worn fresh after a wash. Similar to cotton, it doesn't last very well.

I don't see what's wrong with men wearing g-string. My bf has a few which is used when we have a day out on his bike where he's wearing really tight jeans. The demand for me to have "whale tail" is reciprocated by him. It's useful in jeans or tight business pants for me so there's no VPL. But it takes a boy very comfortable with his sexuality to be wearing g-strings.

Right underwear for the right occasion.
