Is WeChat nearby feature blocked for foreigners in China?

Hello bros out there who use Wechat nearby feature,

I had used the feature to find so many hook-ups over the years.

You see, my last trip in China was Nov 2023 where I confirmed my findings.
However, at the back of my mind, I remembered already noticing not getting any replies in my previous trip (which is not normal for me).
So if I think back, it might already started towards end of Nov 2019 which was just before the Covid lockdown.

But I am quite sure it was working in the trip prior to that which was in Sep 2019.
