SINGAPORE - A middle-aged woman got her leg stuck in the gap between the platform and MRT train at Jurong East station yesterday, May 6.
According to Lianhe Wanbao, it happened at about 9.30am in the morning.
It is unclear how she fell into the gap.
Stuck, she could not move and had no choice but to sit down and wait for help.
The train was reportedly going towards Pasir Ris, and was delayed as a result.
According to netizens' comments, the woman had apparently tried to squeeze into a train cabin that was already full, and had accidentally stepped into the gap as a result.
Fortunately, an SMRT staff was there to quickly assist her.
In a statement released to AsiaOne, SMRT said "At 9.00am this morning at Jurong East MRT station, a female passenger's leg was trapped in the gap between the platform and the train.
"Commuters immediately notified station staff using the Emergency Communication Button. Station staff were able to safely free the passenger's leg within minutes and she was able to continue with her journey.
"We would like to remind commuters to put safety first especially when train doors are about to close to avoid any mishaps or accidents."
