actually according to china immigration law .. "Travelers carrying a sum of Chinese currency in excess of 6,000 Chinese yuan in cash need to declare" ...

So limits is only 6000RMB cash and US5000 for foreign currency, anything above must declare?

I asked because read in the papers in Singapore 2 persons was in trouble for failing to declare when they bring in excess of cash 40K. Never see the Singapore custom check before.

央行2004年12月2日发布公告,自2005年1月1日起,中国公民出人境、外国人人出境每人每次携带的 人民币限额由原来的6000元调整为20000元。
