Jim was a young pastor and Jim was going to give his first sermon to the congregation. So he went to a senior pastor to ask for some advice.
The senior pastor, George, told Pastor Jim, "I've a trick that will wake the congregation whenever I see them all about to nod off and fall asleep. In between my sermon, I'll suddenly say, "last night , I was holding in my arms, the wife of another man". This will wake the congregation as they all waited to hear who this wife of another man was and I'll say, " it was my mother".
So Jim took all the advice from Senior Pastor George and he gave his first sermon. At the point when he saw everyone starting to nod off and fall asleep, he said very loudly, "last night, I held in my arms, the wife of another man... "
So the congregation was suddenly wide awake as everyone stared intently to find out who this woman was.
Then young Pastor Jim said loudly, with a lot of confidence, "it was Pastor George's mom!"
