Most who buy cars there are paying CASH, full CASH. So in terms of wealth, those in HCMC are actually more cash rich than normal singaporeans.
Precisely ... alot of us think vietnamese people are poor .. alot of us proclaimed that we are rich BUT the problem is we can't afford to come out in full cash to buy a car ....
Likewise is similar in buying land , buying house and renovating house .. most will pay in full cash
Honda Airblade is not he bring up one lah. Its me lah. Anyway, price went up quite a bit. Oh, forget to add vnd36mil was not at HCMC and that was almost 2 yrs ago.
Yes, I brought it in BD about 1.5 yrs ago for less than 40 million and just sold recently for 32 million and exchange it for a yamaha nozza that cost 33 million

The viets that most Singaporeans come into contact with are the lower class Viets who come here to make a living. The higher society viets are the ones you see in VN seating at backseat of new luxury cars with driver driving them around.
In Fact they can be more rich than the rich in Singapore ... ANd when I say Rich .. I mean they are CASH Rich ...
Yes .. luxury cars can be cheaper than in Singapore .. but I can tell you .. although is much cheaper and we are so called Rich .. we might not be able to Buy a car in Vietnam ...
This time is yur turn to misinterprete me.
I didnt think they are very poor. I didnt mentioned that leh.
I just mentioned that i noticed more and more cars n luxury cars on the road lately. When i 1st went there 3 yrs ago, still not so much.
Agreed With u on that they maybe more cash rich than the rich here.
But still the very poor still mantained very poor. While the rich are getting richer. The gap is widening. Its not good for a developing country, a lot of social issues will arise in the coming future is the viet government dont do something about it.

Sinkiporean are only rich in assets but not cash, as for the rich vietnamese not only are they cash rich but also gold rich. I remember 4 - 5 years ago when I was in HCM conducting seminar some Singapore educational courses at one 5 star hotel, one of the attendee whose not so smartly dressed & carrying a very casual bag was quietly listening to us at one corner, after the seminar he came in front for some additional enquiry (of course with the help of our viet translator),out of sudden he lift up & open his bag, guess what, at least 20 - 30pcs of gold bar was inside & ask whether was that enough to cover his son education in Sinkipore. All of us was caught by surprise & can't believe what we have seen.

Me too but i always pretend i dont know, anyway is a small amount,i treat it as her own saving and she have proven to me that she use wisely even though i dont really want to know
I agreed, some time act 'blur' is better than confrontation, at least I can sleep peacefully at night otherwise she will start argue with me, what wrong with buying gold, we can keep it for 'rainy' day. Regards to use money wisely, under the influence of my mother, she begin to buy 4D & toto quite regularly at least spending S$50 per week especially she once strike S$4K last year & that further cultivating her habit, up to now I believe everythings have already return to S'pore pool

buying gold jewellery is not a wise investment...you can only get up to 70% of the value...excluding stones which always no value except diamonds...if want to invest gold then buy gold bars or gold certificates...only lose upto 5% on admin fees (anyone can confirm this admin fees)...
