I remember when i first arrived in Vietnam, i asked my viet friend what the viets like to do when they are free, his immediate answer is `lam tinh'. I thought he was joking but after some time there, i realised what he said is true.
free time nothing to do then find things to do loh and this is the more "free" activity, no cost and feel song...
actually, our grandparents also went through the same situation as during kampong days, nothing to do then make babies loh, so thats why most of us have many uncles and aunties. also contributed to the baby boom period in the 50s...

The lower class viets open attitude towards sex is not westernised nor singaporeanised. Its the way the lower society operates in their country .Sex is used as a tool to earn a living, so attitudes towards sex is more open, surely more open than normal singaporeans. The same applies to the lower society of thailand and china, where they export lots of sex workers. Bro....what "lam tinh" mean? Sorry, coz I am interested to understand the culture better.
hi all friends who have vietnamese wife, do you all face problems applying for HDB flats if your wife is not tet a PR?
If your wife is not a PR, you cannot apply for new HDB flat together with your wife. If she has a LTSVP valid for more than 6 months, you will be able to buy a HDB flat from the resale market with your wife.

if u have a child born in Singapore , u can apply for BTO even though your wife is not a PR as with the singaporean born child , you have formed what HDB deem as family nucleus so you can bid for BTO as well...
if not , then you can only purchase re-sale flat.
i just successfully bidded for a new flat ready by next year...
you can go to HDB website or call in to their hotline for more info...

I think Bro jf66312 is right, HDB seems to have tweak their rules recently:
Eligibility Conditions
Citizenship
-You must be a Singapore Citizen
-Your family nucleus must comprise at least another Singapore Citizen or Singapore Permanent Resident.
as long as your child is a Singapore citizen, you and your viet spouse can apply for BTO.
