Economy slowdown really a very bad news for most of us

Some of the comments posted here are truely frightening in their ignorance. Not to be rude, but I think it still holds true the saying that "free advice is usually the costliest."

If you're not an expert stockpicker or you don't follow the markets closely, I propose you buy into an etf or passive index fund. Those are usually much safer and have a track record of providing more returns over a long period of time as they don't have to deal with expensive mgmt fees and they don't churn your account as much as actively managed funds. Keep on funneling funds monthly and over the long run your returns are usually much higher than the market interest rate.

Constructio sector is good, but bear in mind, alot of them award project liao, then cost keep going up, with lack of workers and they keep chaning companies, the margins have clearly been mostly wiped out, to confirm, have to wait for their results .... in fact I think some of them, the make money from properties rather than construction biz eg Koh Bros.

lim bei have KB also in my portfolio, heard they bidding for IR project with lianbeng, hopefully chiong when results out

For new projects I think still OK, but like bro mjking said, their previous projects might have been priced low so no margins there, am sure they will factor huge margins for up coming projects ... so if market slow down, cost drop their margins will go up ....

Hmm..too good to be true. Bought ECON Intl years years back. Later changed to JASPER. Now DL!

Econ was at one stage darling, but then construction downturn mah ... during that time a lot of construction firm turn turtle ....

It has changer name to JasperInv Last done 0.415 ....So your stock is still there...

I think it had some capital reduction thingy several years back....

Tks. Can u imagine I dont even keep track of my portfolio cos I long long time already gave up hope on those money losing stocks that I have. Recent one...JEL. Still suspended and lately reported loss somemore.... Never know savvy investors like Koh B H and our lau Oei also kenna plucked....

JasperInv was trading between 1.5 to 3cts for months before the recent changes.

JasperInv went thru 1 for 2 rights recently @2cts on 26 March and then 25 to 1 consolidation on 25 April.

Based on 1.5 cts before the rights and consolidation, it should be trading at around 41.6cts now theoretically.
Now it is trading at 41.5 - 42cts, about the same.

The directors, Geoffrey Yeoh, Steven Simspon and Heng Chiang Meng bought alot of shares recently.

Maybe something brewing?

ETF is something that interest me. I think it makes more sense than buying unit trust. I'm still trying to understand more about the ETFs currently available in the market before making my moves.

My portfolio includes blue chips like SembCorp Marine, Cosco and Wilmar etc. Despite the past 2 weeks of rally, their prices are now losing the worth again. Right now, there seems to be no sight of medium-to-long term. Rather, any form of gains can only be made from short-term.
