Possible cause is the fuck buddy relationship dragged too long and feelings developed. Then both parties dont want to let go, but cannot be together for some reason.

Yeah exactly like what OP said, the fact that its a fb/fwb means its not a one-night stand. so usually even if there are breaks involved, you will get to fuck again.

But like people have said, somethings feelings get involved. for fb i think its less, but fwb is literally 'friends with benefits' and sometimes your friendship can become problematic as well when you have a physical/sexual relationship it can cause dynamic problems in your group.

For me, I would say I have broken up with 20% of them and got broken up 80% of the time because i guess I was also at the age where women get a lot more say in choosing who they want to f and go.

I broke up with a few because either one of us caught feelings or I just didn't feel like it was that good. like others mentioned in this chat, you usually don't have to say anything. can just ghost. if you love/respect them enough as a friend maybe convey it and can have a quick chat with them as to why you are ending the relationship

Labelling the relationship as FB/FWB is a mistake right from the start. Guys may not put much meaning into the term as we think it will get us sex. For the ladies, it's a label which makes her feel more special than any other normal lady. It also hints at commitment.
