About a week had past since that conversation. In the middle we just made small talk and largely did not touch on the topic as I didn't want to overthink and speculate - after all she is a married lady and I did not want to risk a nice friendship at the workplace.

Then this happened.

A: heyyyy

Angelina's name floated on my messenger on a seemingly normal afternoon. It wasn't unusual as we do chat every other day.

Me: heyyy simi daiji
A: hahaha
A: i m like bring trouble for u
Me: oei I didn't say that ahh
A: jus wanna check...r u free later in the evening?

I blinked my eyes. Then I took a deep breath.

Me: yeah I suppose so. wassup
A: nothing la. i have leftovers from last night and he gonna be working late again. if u dun mind we can have my cooked leftovers at my place?

Oh man...she REALLY asked that.

A: curry chicken leh. u like right? i remember u said u sup all ur mum's curry chicken.

They say the way to a man's heart is through his tummy...and maybe through other ways; my mind wandered.

Me: wah. other leftovers i still worried, curry chicken shiok sia.
A: wei wat u mean u worried
A: u think i will poison u issit

I giggled a bit to myself.

A: dun wan dun wan lorrr
Me: no la no la even u feed me poison i'll be willing ok
A: no no no
A: dun wan feed u liao
A: say my food poison
A: HUMPH

She's doing that again. Darn.

Me: no la i'm ok no worries ok
Me: i will slurp up ur bowl of curry until nothing left ok
A: u say one ah
Me: u give me anything I also slurp and lick until nothing
A: that sounds kinda pervy
Me: i didn't mean it that way, but it seems u thot of it that way

Me: r u sure u gonna feed me? really?
A: not that kind of feed

The convo kinda hanging here and there.

Me: so after work we meet at bus stop? 530pm?
A: yeah sure, i think i can finish my work.

The messages ended with us going for lunch, and we happened to bump onto each other in the cafeteria. We did not make much talk as we were each with our own teams.

It was a lil fortunate I was busy in the second half of the day, though my rest moments had me to wonder in a whole weird direction of whether things are really as pure as what it is, or that it might wander to another manner...

...and it was soon 5:15pm and I hurriedly packed up and got my colleagues to cover my last items as I quickly walked to the bus stop. Took my stuff, crossed the road. Sat at bus stop.

The bus went past.

Saw Angelina coming out of the guardhouse. Oh yeah, guess I didn't mention she was wearing her yellow dress again with a pair of black platforms. No stockings this time. I looked at her intently as she crossed the road and came over the bus stop.

"Paiseh paiseh I late liao" Angelina apologized.

"No lah, I was early. See, now only 5:40pm. You needed time to walk from your side mah." I tried to make small talk.

"Hahaha thanks for finding reason for me ah. So want to eat my curry until wanna get into my good books ah?"

For a second my mind misinterpreted as "eat me". Damnit.

"Maybe?" I went for a quick one.

"No worries, the curry won't run away. Will feed you one." she smiled and winked.

That wink made my heart skipped a beat. For two seconds I wondered what she will feed me other than curry.

"I'm not worried about that since it's leftovers."

"OEI what do you mean by that???" she playfully punched my arm.

"Nothing nothing, bus come liao!" I diverted quickly as the bus came. We boarded the bus as I allowed her to go up first while being behind her.

We walked up the upper deck of the bus and she walked 3 seats from the stairway and sat down. I was behind her, yet I was not entirely decided if I should sit beside her, since there were many seats vacant. Of the few times we sat on the same bus, I was on a separate seat though she did offer the seat beside her to me on similar occasions.

Still unsure of anything, I decided on the safer option to sit in front of her.

"Still scared of me eating you up ah?" she teased. This was a common question from her whenever I chose not to sit beside her.

"Bo lah. 大男人 scared u what. Only later I sit beside u den u cannot tahan me so hot even though windows are open."

Yes, those were the days there were still some services with double-deck non-air conditioned buses.

"傻的。Nonsense." she retorted. "Come come come."

"Never mind la, let me blow some wind."

"Blow blow blow, later I blow you then you know ah." she shot back quickly. On hindsight...it does sound...suggestive.

I ignored her words as I looked out of the window for a while, enjoying the breeze and acting normal. Yes, I was not so normal as random weird thoughts were invading me and whether anything could happen. I also took the phone out to have a look, but those were the days of non-smartphones so not much to do except looking at messages.

Some time had past as we did random stuff like opening and closing bags, taking the water bottle out for a drink and stuff like that.

"Reaching my place soon liao, time to get down ah."

"Yeah I know" I naturally responded.

"Wah you remember ah? Are you secretly stalking me?"

"Nonsense. You are always the first to drop off so naturally I'll know what."

"Wah seh u also use 'nonsense' liao. Kana influenced by me liao ah?"

"Mai lai. Nonsense this word anyone can use." I trailed my sentence as I walked down the stairway with her behind me.
