Actually it is not true that the police won't dare to interfere. The police does not want to interfere 井水不犯河水. If a case ever occur where the Head of Police has a quarrel with the Head of PLA and is actively looking for trouble, guess where the raids will hurt most?

I'm basically looking to try and hook up some potential SYT (below 25 yrs) FLs OR attempt to turn one or two to the Dark Side! So just wondering where to look around for them. If BonBon and Richy all teenagers... then I not gonna fit in... me in mid-30s liao.

Will give some a try, I guess, and report back on what I see.

Since you mentioned Bonbon & Richie might not be your cup of tea, perhaps you can try babyFace located on Jin Ling Rd, junction of Long Men Rd. The name of the mall is Infiniti or in Chinese is 无限度广场. More mature crowd, with occasional OL or SYT at 25yos & above.
Also, weekdays it is mainly patronise by KTV gals whom are not working, or simply out for fun with their regular customers.

I doubt that you'll be the only odd one being in the age range of 30+ as most male customers of about the same age ranges I presumed.
Do not be skeptical.

A new ruling has been issued by the local Police Authorities for all Expats to take note of with regards to Residence Permit;

The Shanghai city's exit-entry administration is remindfing all foreigners that most will need to renew residence registration certificates at respective district police posts, stations.

The certificate is used to apply for, to change or to extend visa & residency permit.

The certificate which is issued by the neighbourhood police stations was updated with a new version on October 1st 2008. All foreigners must complete the said procedures & obtain the current documents.

Foreigners holding the old version are to renew it at their respective neighbourhood Police stations by 30th November 2008.
Foreigners who moved from one residence to another during their visa term are also needed to update their Residence information at the Shanghai Exit-Entry Administration in Pudong within 10 days after receiving their certificates from their respective neighbourhood Police stations.

Further information is available at 021-28951900. English operators are available on weekdays from 0900hrs -1130hrs & 1330hrs - 1700hrs daily.

Orchard Road Restaurant & Bar (坞节路新加坡餐厅酒吧)
Address: located on Xinzha Road, right at junction of Jiaozhou Road, Jingan District (next to a car tyre repair shop, entrance of The Orchard Road restaurant & bar has a large white 'Merlion' statue, very prominent)
3rd Floor of restaurant is the bar where many fellow Singaporeans gathers there nightly.
