Re: Bangkok (Ratchada Pisek) - Girl friendly hotel?

Hi wolverman,

Quite a good hotel as it's relatively new. Hotel nearby according to my map are Baiyoke Suite (Older), Amari Watergate and Indra Regent.

Baiyoke Sky is near the pratunam textile wholesale center and near panthip plaza (good for pirated VCD and computer software)

Anyone need maps of thailand road can contact me. I can scan the maps and e-mail them to you.

Bro chanchwee is right. During my last trip, I stay there. So far I believe this is the best value for money hotel. Location is great. Behind is NEP liao. Room is clean and the toilet is just like any other hotel. Guest friendly too. For 1300B per night. The only complaint I had is the breakfast. Coffee suck....

Ya, I thought so. Thats what I heard too. The only reason I chose Baiyoke Sky cos its a 4 star hotel and I read the guest feedback on the hotel from the net quite convincing. I may consider other hotels near the "entertainment" spot. But most travel agents dont recommend hotels near those vincinity.

Baiyoke Sky is a nice hotel..rooms spacious and clean and comfy.
I paid abt 1800b (for single) via asiarooms.com when I stayed there. Double is ard 1900b.
They charge 500b for gal..but U can dodge them if U bring gal up during peak hrs (before midnite) when there are many people.
Baiyoke Sky has Pay per view movies and U have to call staff to set up for U and takes abt 1 hr but I have not tried.
(One hotel that has adult movies is Four Wings in Sukhumvit soi 26. They have 25 sec preview of Western and Asian adult. Each movie for 24 hrs is ard 400-500b. Four Wings though a nice hotel is pretty isolated and too far from the main Sukhumvit action area so not recommended. Then of 'cos there are those FL cheap hotels Siam Hotel and A-One which shows adult movies for free.)

However, the ambience surrounding Baiyoke in Pratunam area is pretty run down and slummy...After midnite when hawkers and streets are empty there are lots of rubbish. Also not much nightlife except for that sleazy (not-recommended) Embassy/Prince area. I would not stay at Baiyoke Sky except when hotels in Sukhumvit area is all full.

U can narrow it down to few clusters of good hotels in Bkk:
Sukhumvit-the main artery of Bangkok that emanates into other areas.
Pratunam-no great hotels except for Baiyoke Sky and Amari Watergate but slummy surroundings
Ploenchit/Chitlom-posh area next to Pratunam with expensive hotels and nitelife.
Silom- lots of nitelife but sleazy and congested
Ratchada-great nitelife but dead during the day.
Yaowarat (Chinatown)- great food but other quiet on night front
Sanam Luang- where all the top hotels in world like Oriental,Shangri-La are. Little nitelife except for Khao San

So my favorite area is still Sukhumvit area...for ard 2000b, U can stay at hotels like:
Rembrandt (soi 18)
Windsor Suites (s20)
Novotel Lotus (s33...opp s22)
Royal President (s15)
Grand President (s11)
Royal Benja (s5)- affordable and cosy hotel ard Nana area
Zenith Sukhumvit (s3)
Most of these affordable hotels between soi zero and soi22 are normally fully booked during weekends so best to book early via internet.
Whether U hunt in Sukhumvit, Ratchada or elsewhere, Sukhumvit centre is still throbbing place to be and very accessible to all facilities.

Too many info also can result in "information overload"... Since this is your first time you have no comparison.

After so many suggestions you seem more puzzle....

Just set your priority and go for it..... Is having X rated so important to you ?? You can bus tons of x rated dvds at cheap price and watch at your own timing then worrying about it when you choose a hotel... Sign.

Most newbies are more concern with the "chiong" places than hotel... You seem to be barking at the wrong tree....

Sorry Bro as I have said earlier I have not stayed there before and therefore I don't know. I only visited some Bros there and they spoke very highly of it. Maybe Bro Gigantor can help you out since he stayed there.

One never know what sort of gils one will get. If you suay and get one whos "green", hopefully those x-rated stuff would help her. I dont know about bros here, but I really enjoy watching and boking at the same time. I mean if I have a choice to pick, I would not mind paying for a 4star hotel which have such x-rated stuff facility.

Re: Bangkok (Ratchada Pisek) - Girl friendly hotel?

bah, i was stopped by hotel security also when i try to bring my girl into a 3 star hotel at Pratunam. It's called PJ Watergate hotel. dnt book the place unless u wanna travel up and down the streets everyday like me. it's quite a experience, but just for once is enough. it's a distance from the main road lor. i'm sure there are better hotels around. the Amari Watergate hotel at the main road looks nice too. but too bad i'd already paid for my hotel online.

You can also try D'ma Pavilion Hotel in Makkasan ( Pratunum ) Its a 4 star hotel and is girl friendly too. If you book the voucher from local tour operator it should cost you around $50, if you buy the voucher in Bkk, it is around 1000 baht.

Cheers,
