not really new shops, just relocated there from gp. one is indeed already closed, one seems still open. i noticed many other shops were closed in qbt. i heard same happen in go vap. imho not safe to go to these places at the moment.

whenever you change Ringgit to USD then to VND or any currencies, you will lose out on exchange loss...here is double exchange losses...

example -

3.065 Ringgit = 1 USD = 21,000 VND
3.065 Rinngit = 3.065 x 6900 = 21,148 VND

Thanks bro H88, So im guessing i actually did a silly mistake back then...

Well it was a colleague who told me that the exchange rate is better using USD to change in HCM rather then changing to dongs in Msia..

But i also thought that everytime i change i will lose on exchange rate, how can 2 times exchange be better..

But according to your calculation, i think i only lose out a little...besides i only change RM500 the last trip....

this trip gonna change a little more >< so better to be sure which way to change is better.

1RM = 0.31USD = 6570VND (1USD = 21200VND, so 0.31USD = 6570VND)

Which makes little sense to change twice (Rm> USD, USd> VND) but then again, it depends on how "generous" the goldsmiths are.
It will only make sense if 1RM gives you more USD than usual(likely the case if they like to clear their currency), or USD gives you more VND than usual, which you have to work out.

I needed to read a few times before i kind of understand the calculation hahaha.

But i shall post again the exchange rate when im able to check it online. I usually go to 1 money exchange in Kepong area (just for information, can pm me for the money exchange shop if you're from KL or selangor area). I find the exchange rate usually better then outside, and you can always check online before heading to the shop to determine if its the best rate you can get.
