Come on lah... I have been to Jakarta a few times and it is not a bad place. At least it's better than Pakistan where bombs frequently go off...

I dun think any brother here is saying this is a "bad place" . Just that it is expensive and inconvenient due to traffic and floodings.

I have been in and out of Jakarta over the years and comparing to China or Thailand, is rather safe.
Safety is a mixture of being aware and familiar with you environments.

Expensive is relative, on the low end nothing beats Jakarta and on the high end people there are more willing to show off, so the spending might be on the high side.

My humble two cents.

Would agree, that Jakarta is an inconvenient place to get around but if you know your timing and plan your destination ahead, you should be fine.

You must have been here long enough to learn and know the traffic but think for the ones that just arrive...., anyway haven't you heard of the frequent remarks made ny the indons, kemacetan di Jakarta susah di pridiksi.

Expensive is relative, on the low end nothing beats Jakarta and on the high end people there are more willing to show off, so the spending might be on the high side.

Hi bro,
I have had a PR100,000 bonk at a local place in the west of Jakarta, and I was invited to a wild sex party on one of the islands which cost me USD$ 40,000 for a 3 night package.
It was like a local version of the playboy mansion, it was sure an eye opener. you could have sex with any girls on that island, and if I was not wrong the were 300 plus girls to 20 of the clients[mens].
