Think about this way: your S$ is no longer home currency in foreign shores. Just another forex unit vis a vis their HOME currency. Subject to vagaries of local forex conditions. For example, SG's pretty open forex market compared with some countries (restrictions etc). Specifically for bht, hardly any difference

Was advised that general rule of thumb is you are better off changing at departing source rather than at destination (be sensible, think this applies ex SG). My personal experience with 1 european currency (before euro), was my SG was like mickey mousey over there. You dun wanna hear about lousy rate.

Another general guideline, on friday afternoon onwards & throughout the wkend, the rates goes against u, comparing wif the actual market values. They are protecting themselves & hedging against any sudden market fluctuations or events happening over the wkend tat's gonna cos a hooha in the financial markets when the markets open for the next week.

Yup, here for biz trip but time is very tight.

Just got back from Bkk.. the rates there are much better..
changed at a exchange near MBK on sat.. rate is 22.9. Though still low but quite happe lah..

You are back. I heading to BKK on 24 this month. I think I should change in BKK. I presume that Bkk exchange rate is slightly higher but of course the amount I change is not much. Cheers...

Rule no 1:
you open a money changer in thailand and in singapore.
operation cost is higher where??
Although i may be newbie in thailand my 40-50 odd trips tell me
everytime I change currency in thailand is better than in singapore except..
rare cases when in between the bloody flight/bus/whatever.. something majar happens to the market.. ie. 1997 financial crisis, 2006307.. thai bombings cum thaksin went down.. my trusted singapore money changer (I suo bak one lar) or thai money changer (also suo bak one) give me rates that differ by around 1.5 %. So singaporeans that feel that it matters pls change in thailand else.... you know what......
