with barca coming up next, ETH took a huge gamble by starting maguire and shaw in central defence, good thing his gamble didn't backfire. good away derby win to make up for the draw at home

individual errors
DDG, maguire, shaw all made individual errors, luckily leeds weren't clinical enough to capitalise on them. think patience with maguire is running low, more and more of a liability

performance up till 60mins
nervy defence and couldn't pass their way out, build up play was poor, best chances came from counterattacks but were squandered

performance after 60mins, martinez and garnacho came on
build up play had more purpose, great assists by shaw and WW, but even they were 2 goals up, somehow felt nervy as leeds tried to mount a fightback, man u must score >3 goals to kill the game off

garnacho
ETH uses garnacho to devestating effect, coming on as impact sub, his burst of speed against tired legs led to 2nd goal (similar to his goal vs fulham). i feel garnacho is more effective coming on as a sub than a starter

Me too ..with Martinez n Sabitzer banned from playing in this 1st leg, don't think they hv a chance against mighty Barca, without any good players left available to play ....hope they don't get slaughtered or roasted like little chickens to be prepared for a meal for the master....winning the Europa Cup is out of the question for them for sure

The remaining English clubs still in UCL are 5th, 9th and 10th.

And in the UEL are also Barca and Juve.

quite alot of players are unavailable, ETH will setup his team to soak pressure and counter on the break

poss lineup: DDG, dalot, varane, shaw, malacia, casemiro, fred, fernandes, rashford, sancho*, WW, garnacho impact sub

*sancho just got back into 1st team action, i feel he will need another month to fully integrate back, his performance as a starter vs leeds was nothing to shout about. on the other hand, it seems like elanga/pellestri haven't impressed ETH enough to start as AMR

wow, the Red Devils r not afraid of Barca n r bringing the game to them..shd hv been 2-0 up but both saved by their good GK one using his fingertip to turn away Rashford's strike...they hv been attacking, attacking n attacking n had quite a few chances to score but did not hv the luck to put the ball into their net cos of their good GK n defenders...on the other end AWB nearly gave away a penalty n Varane was booked from a small tackle....1st half ended all square ...think n hope they can beat them in the 2nd half

And they shd hv ended winning 4-3 counting n including all the shots on target as well but it ended in a 2-2 draw instead ...ironically it looked more like a EPL match i/o a match against a spanish team cos all 4 goals scored were by players or ex players in the EPL ..pple like Marcos Alonso (ex Chelsea) n Raphinna (ex Leeds) n the other 2 remaining goals were of course scored by super boy Rashford or from his effort ..luckily for United, Casemiro didn't put the ball into his own net ...they were the better side on the whole, on the front foot attacking n attacking Barca...only put their foot off the gas towards the end of the game...never expected them to do so well w/o Eriksson, Sabitzer n Martinez..only thing is Casemiro lost the ball in midfield n gave away a free kick which Raphinna took n shot it all the way into goal catching DDG by surprise...

hope in the 2nd leg at Old Trafford they can beat them n progress to the next stage of the competition...from the hungry n aggressive way they played last night it actually looked like a Europa League cup final

what a match... a frantic second half

here are some thoughts:
- man u kept losing possession when they played out from the back, the midfield were either too high up when barca pressed or made bad passes, could have conceded more

- man u high press was exciting to watch, pressing at a high tempo, making barca uncomfortable and forcing mistakes, turnovers to chances ratio is improving, just need to be more clinical. think the 2nd leg will be also exciting as man u will all out press and attack at home

- rashford is in great form, scoring and assisting, at this rate, he will score 30 goals this season

- WW worked his socks off, his efforts should've been rewarded with a goal but the GK made a good save

- ETH should have brought on garnacho earlier, sancho didn't trouble the fullbacks much. garnacho could have stretched the tired barca defence with his pace

Damn.....you guys can laugh at me.

I mistaken thought the match started 4am.....so I slept early and alarm 3.55am.

Woke up ....and holy molly...match finished liao.

As it is, I miss a really good block buster. And I'm surprised Man U didn't get slaughtered at Camp Nou.

My friend was lucky, he miss the first half but watch the second half, where all 4 goals were scored.

Seemed like advantage Man U in the 2nd leg as they got 2 away goals and playing at OT.

Martinez and Sabitzer will be available in the 2nd leg.
Martinez is good with the ball and can push up from the back. But personally, I dun like that play from back crap. Past matches had shown Man U players will panic when pressed.

But Barca will have their dangerman O Dembele too. This guy is currently very in form and is very quick on the right wing.

Hope I dun miss the 2nd leg.
