Review of Manila March/April 2006 Part I
dudes i hv spent the best part of the last 2 mths in manila work related in the day and r&r on a nightly basis (well almost, apart fm a few days out in baguio, palawan, bora, cebu & davo)...so i tot i wld share my experiences after getting some good info fm this thread before my trip...
hotels in manila and in the philippines in general - apart fm company corporate rates & the internet(beware the us$ exchange rate)...i wld recommend scouting ard local travel agents to get competitive rates...unfortunately it wld appear that there is some rate discrimination in favour of the pinoys & the balikbayans(overseas pinoys) but u can still get a competitve nett rate...tip, pay in us$ cash so that u do not loose in peso exchange rate... i found the general std of the hotel properties in manila to be on the shabby outdated side(even the 5 stars) apart fm say the shangri-la makati/edsa (pricey & perhaps not worth it unless u r on a company acc) and the newish hotels like hyatt casino (malate) & crowne plaza galleria(qc, ortigas)... found 'traders hotel' (roxas blvd) to be best value for $$$ in the ermita/malate/pasay area...best suited for convention venue & the nightlife...managed to get a nett daily us$60...guest service is v good, security is v good & gal friendly, ask for high flr manila bayview rms... there is a v cheap local laundry in the basement of the building next door(maybank has branch there) and on the grd flr the $$$ changer appears to give a competitive exchange rate (some of the gals there r quite cute & easy to flirt wif  )... a 3 minute walk away is the fb harrison mall which has everything fm a supermarket, pharmarcy, food courts, internet cafe, shops (including an interesting firearms shop) & an adjacent sm mall...not forgetting some fl gals on the second level (more on that later)...there is also a cheap & tasty chinese food joint next to the mall 'hap chang' part of a chain, that serves dim sum & basic chinese dishes (v much better than the bigger 'chow king' food chain)... give the 'century park hotel' (next to fb harrison mall) a miss...suppose to be a 5 star hotel but the service sucks, the rms r below average & v dated & worst still the hotel is not gal friendly... for the makati area...i wld suggest 'the peninsula hotel'...although its rates r naturally higher than the malate/pasay area...i managed to get a nice spacious deluxe rm for us$90 nett...defintely one of the nicer, plush 5 star hotels in manila & gal friendly... for upmarket shopping & classy gal(the classy chinitas & mestizas) watching at cafes in makati, try glorietta mall; greenbelt; & powerplant mall(rockwell)... for the quezon city/pasig area...i wld suggest the 'crowne plaza galleria hotel'(ortigas/adb ave)...it is a brand new hotel wif large modern spacious rms & bathrooms (separate bathtub & shower rm)...managed to get a deluxe rm for us$80 nett...v good service & gal friendly...only downside found their room service menu to be lacking in choice... a good plus pt...robinsons galleria shopping mall can be directly accessed fm 'crowne plaza galleria hotel'...this mall is pretty large and has everything u need...cheap laundry on the basement level; $$$ changer on the grd level; supermarket; food court; pharmarcy; even a cinema complex on the top level... other good malls close by (by taxi 50 pesos trip)...greenhills mall & the podium... it wld appear that the deluxe coffee scene is all the rage in manila wif starbucks & seattle coffee in all the malls...oh also the pinoys seem to be like pasta & pizas alot apart fm their own local food...so u will find these joints both foreign & local all over the place... golf in manila - manila golf club (forbes park, makati)...ok course, oldest club in manila wack wack club (mandaluyong city, near edsa)...2 championship courses...well maintained... not sure abt the rates as my pinoy hosts took me to both clubs during my stay...overall good service & relaxed time... transportation - stick to registered metered taxis, avoid the hotel limo service unless it is on yr company expense acc(pricey & not worth it even for the trip to the airport)...they r on the whole safe, cheap & make sure the hotel valet writes down the taxi's number & registration & get a copy of the same fm him for safety & service reasons... when u flag down yr own metered taxi, insist the taxi driver uses the meter...these chaps can be rogues and demand outrageous flat rates...if u hv no choice and need to take a 'flat rate' registered taxi (most likely in the wee hrs of the morning after clubbing)...always agree on a flat rate before heading off...to get a rough idea on flat rates always ask the hotel reception/concierge before u leave the hotel on the average rates...i found most flat fares ard metro manila including quezon city sld not cost more than 250 pesos (even that is on the high side)... wanted to try a jeepney for fun but gave it a miss after i read abt a sad & horrendous murder of a teenage gal over a handphone by bandits on a jeepney in broad daylight in quezon city...same reason to avoid the fx... safety - i found manila no different than any large 'third world' asean city, like bangkok & jakarta...so long as u blend in wif the crowd, dress down & avoid acting like a tourist u sld be ok...i encountered no problems even though i flew 'solo' on most of my r&r nights out... to be cont'd...

informative guides on the nightlife in manila - apart fm this thread, i found the following sites informative & reliable... whorist.com : slanted more to the ang moh, although i found one of the current blogs & some of the latest frs (05/06) quite objective... philippines4men.com : good general introduction & tips...interactive participation by both pinoys & foreigners alike, although more slanted towards the pinoy...downside quite alot of the posts r in tagalog which unfortunately i do not quite understand (as yet)... manilatonight.com : something along the lines of sam's site, generally used by pinoys...good info & reliable...downside again due to the use of tagalog... [B]word of warning -[/B] always check the pinay's id card to ensure that she is of 'age' before bedding her...to play safe stick to gals 18yrs upwards...don't push yr luck... keep all valuables in the hotel rm safe box and only bring sufficient cash on each foray including hookers payments & tips... pinays in general - i hv 'played' the gal scene in los for ard 10yrs (lived & worked in bkk & chiangmai periodically over that time) and was always taken by the breath, depth & diversity of thai gals...fm the darkish 'malay' southern look; the traditional siamese fair look (look at the king's cute grandaughters for eg); the thai/chinese look & the growing luk khrung (thai/caucasian) look which btw is my fav, some r equivalent if not more beautiful than macau beauties like michelle reiss... now when i compare the pinays to the thai gals...imho in terms of general beauty & gentle femine qualities, the thai gals win...however i wld generally rank the pinays ahead of the indo & malay gals...generally where the pinay beats the thai gal is in terms of their attitude to sex & relationships, more fun & flexible...thai gals generally tend to be prouder and more nationalistic than the pinay... notwithstanding the abv...there also appears to be great diversity & depth when it comes to the beauty of the pinay due to the philippines being a huge archipelago & its colonial history...generally pinays comprise of the darkish looking 'morena' (darkish malay sort of look); fairer 'indigenuous' pinays (like lea salonga & regine velasquez) ; 'chinitas' (filippino/chinese) & the 'mestizas' (filippino/spanish)...and now the growing mix of flippino/caucasians... imho the pinay beauties r the 'mestizas'(most originally hail fm cebu where the spanish settlers based themselves) & the 'chinitas' (i find that they hv a different sort of look fm sing/taiwan/hk gals & perhaps r more giving)...i must admit that i am biased towards peachy porcelain alabaster skin beauties...heck that is why i luv luk khrungs!... curious pt to note...i found that generally the pinays tend to treat the japs & koreans much better on a first impression basis...they r loads of koreans now in manila, so much so that korean soap operas now play regularly on pinoy tv... perhaps they r high spenders (suckers oh perhaps it is because they hv smaller dicks (so the pinays informed me...saying that pinays r quite partial to singgies...they dislike arabs the most, mainly due to body ordour... p burgos, bars (makati) - i paid a cursory visit to 'flamingo' & 'bandidos' bars, according to some 'whorists' these 2 bars hv the best eye candy in town...imho these places r more suited to the ang mohs who prefer the darkish 'morena' pinay look...there was the odd looker but generally i wld rate these pinays as a 5 at best...to be candid i hv seen more attractive pinay maids on their day off in lucky plaza on a sunday...not worth the effort... edsa entertainment complex (next to heritage hotel, malate/pasay) -[/B] ditto my comments abv...i paid a cursory visit to 'firehouse'...not worth the effort... 'ms universal' (libertad st, pasay/malate) - i hv written abt this joint before...and i hv gone back there on a regular basis ever since till i left manila...perhaps i maybe bias, but imho this strip club provides the best value peso wise if u r looking for the raunchest public strip show in manila and more imptly for the best quality chinitas & mestizas on offer in clubs in manila...v few ang mohs here...main clientele koreans, japs, filippino chinese & other chinese...btw this place is owned by a filippino chinese, just like the qc ktv strip... moreover this club appears to hv the widest selection of chinitas & mestizas on show than any other club that i hv been to in manila, and i include the quezon avenue ktv strip & 'airforce one' in paranaque... the best time to go to this club is just before 9pm (it closes at 4am)...there is a show cover of 400p not including yr drink charge(after yr first visit this charge is waived if u get in wif the papasan/mamasan)...a beer costs abt 90p...try to get a seat in the centre front of the stage (note the showroom is large by ktv club stds)...and relax & enjoy the show...no pressure to order anything (unless u want to) just remain cool & polite to both the papasan/mamasan & the waiter... there r 'models' who strut their stuff in dresses...followed by 'dancers' who dance both in their knickers/g strings & bras & some in their 'birthday suits'; 'white tigers', 'brazilians' & more on view...then a solo dancer will do her thing, some even to the extent of audience interaction where she smokes a ciggie wif her pussy & gets an audience member, invariably a horny korean/jap to lick her pussy and drink her cunt juice mixed wif alcohol & ice... as for the selection of gals...every gal has a number tag...if the gals's tag is on the left she is available, if it is on the right she is booked...there is a fish tank on the left side of the entrance to the showroom...the tank is divided between gros and models/dancers...i am not sure abt the table hr rate of the gro as i stuck to only models/dancers but think it is in range of 300p not including the gal's drink...models/dancers hrly table rate 400-450p plus (discounted after the first visit) another 300p plus for her drink...i never bothered wif a ktv rm (so i do not know the pxes on that score) as i was there to barfine and bring the gals back to my hotel rm for a night of ptve fun... usually i wld spend an hr to see if the pinay 'warmed' up to me...if so i wld thereafter barfine her...if not i wld decline further time wif her and continue my search...sometimes i wld spend the entire night just looking at the shows, observing other parties wif amusement and keeping track of potential 'targets' for future nights & chatting wif the papasan...just looking at the fishtank once may not be enuff as the gals come at different times, some get ready to perform others r already barfined, others r off for that night...i wld then make my booking for the gal wif my regular papasan wif added feedback fm him...look for papasan 'freddie'... px to barfine model/dancers...6,000p...i think the gros barfine is 5000p...now whether this is for the whole night till the next day morning depends on the gal...some wld only agree to stay till 4am (which is the end of the work day) others may even stay wif u till the next day afternoon depending on yr schedule if u click wif them...i guess its all abt the age old chemistry thinggy...my own experiences were generally pretty good as i got a feel as to how to play the game wif the pinays after one/two encounters...but i doubt u wld go far wrong if u just treat the gal wif respect & some romance...tips optional but i usually gave a tip of 1,000p plus taxi fare and meals thrown in... all in i wld say that i wld spend ard 9-10kp a night for the gal, drinks, food, transport,tips etc...on the high side perhaps compared to la cafe, p burgos & edsa, casas & mall fls...but imho the quality of the pinay was worth it...in all manners...fm the depth of selection, on a fri & sat there r between 100-200 gals to choose fm, to the quality of the fair chinitas & mestizas, to the youthful age -all the gals i barfined were between 18-19yrs old... btw i not only bedded chinitas and mestizas...i was also lucky to chance upon a filippino/korean mix, real sweet thing...and surprise for me a filippino/black mix...the gal was dark but she had a striking face like the singer aliyah and alicia keyes, long sexy legs and a 'doggie ass'...moreover once u hv bedded the gal and if u really click, cheaper ptve all nighters/afternoons can be arranged...i hv a list of 'ms universal' gals that i shall be calling on my next trip to manila... oh one last thing, not all gals r willing to be barfined for obvious reasons...just ask the papasan/mamsan whether the gal is 'game' or not before concluding the 'deal'... 'airforce one/flight 168' ktv club/massage parlour, paranaque/airport road - this is a huge entertainment complex run by a group of 'influential' filippino chinese businessmen who also run afew ktv clubs along the quezon ave strip among other things...it is a classy joint meant for businessmen wif cash to burn...oh and the first ktv club that i hv seen that has an atm machine on its premises!... the top flr of the club is the ktv and show section...here the gals r young & quite pretty, afew chinitas & mestizas...some sexy erotic dancing for the shows but no full stripping...gros 900p/hr; models 1100; dancers 1300p/hr (excluding drinks)...ktv rooms cost fm 3000p upwards...but it is based on a consumables basis...now if u want to get up to hanky panky wif the gal u got to pay an extra 3000p for a 'comfort rm' which comes wif an ensuite toilet...this does not include a tip wif the gal which has to be negotiated...bj is ard 2000p & full sex is ard 4,000p...normally the gals also luv to do a tequila show on the guys nipples(no extra cost apart fm the drinks)... now on my trips to the ktv clubs, i was brought by local pinoy business partners who were paying for the fun...so i did not balk and went along for the ride...but if i had to pick up the tab, i wld not hv gone there unless i cld put it on my expense acc...no value for $$$...even the quality of the selection of the gals was just ok at best...all in per person i calculated the tab ran up to 14-15kp which was on the high side...now to barfine these gals wld hv cost ard 13kp and even that was for a ridiculous 3hrs and only after 1am!...
