dowry & marraige matters, please dont ask us...

nobody can predict how much the WL wants, or what the family will quote.

1) some have small family, and very little possessions that require high maintenance. with parents understanding & appreciative of their "filial" daughter's sacrifice... wanting the newly wed to have a better life together, might quote smaller amounts - but as long as you can provide for the extended family's 3 meals daily & necessities.

2) some have a battalion to provide for... then good luck to you... you might even think that you're drafting/buying some superstar import in professional football. worst part is; same condition applies - as long as you can provide for the extended family's 3 meals daily & necessities.

3) some depending what kind of girl she is.. might even elope with you. but for a TG who's capable of dropping the family, you better watch out. she can elope with another man soon enough

4) some families try to be fair, they return part of the dowry in forms of assets/property as a gesture of blessing for the newly-weds. but, at the end, its just like a collateral... you're welcome to walk out of the family, or disregard the family.. afterall, the house is bought under the daughter/family's name.

5) some take your dowry, but later when a richer farang man comes along to out bid you, they return you whatever balance that they've used out of your dowry, and receive the new (carrot cake) son-in-law

1 simple advise for you since you put it this way: dont bother yourself with issues & things that's not within your scope of concerns.

at least this is more or less how the thais tend to think - your problem is your problem, mine is mine. (which somehow constitutes to how & why some of them, with dire consequence, adopt the trade as a solution to solve their problems)
