Fake alcohol & local version in China

I came across to this question from bros here asking me whether is it safe to drink in china?

The ones that pm me, some low power of zero, some with moderate of 3.

There are many fake stuffs in china, including alcohol, cigarette and even the currency note!

Actually, if you get the drink from the well established shop or ktv, very likely it is not the fake one, because those places have to retain their name and the reputation. For example, 7-11, wal-mart, carrefour, especially those international companies.

Imagine, if wal-mart is being discovered selling the fake item, how much their share price will drop? And to those big market player, most of them are buying directly from the factory, or the well established distributor, so there is very unlikely the alcohol can be faked.

BUT, even you buy from those proper channel, when you taste it, it could still have the different taste as what you get from sillypore, why?

This is what my friend told me, who is working in carlsberg factory at huizhou.
(fyi, huizhou is about 1 hour plus from cp)

The local china alcohol version is different from the overseas export version.

The reason is because local brand alcohol is cheap in china, in order for the foreign brand to compete with the local brand, they need to have the competitive advantage in pricing. If they use the international selling ingredient, the price will be high, so what they do is they came out with the compromise version that cost lower. With this, they can fight against the local brand.

This case is very common in the business world, for example, proton wira that you buy in malaysia is having the different quality if you buy it in singapore.

So, next time if you want to go drinking or buying the alcohol, make sure that you get it from the reputable source, and with this, very likely u will not get the fake version, but the local version.
