Re: Tieng Viet lovers club
I had frequent Tiger and Jetstar and Lion. Tiger use to be one of the best but with recent flight delays and other issue. I think it is better to take Jetstar or Lion.

Vietnam jailed 4 for trafficking women to Sgp
=============================================== HANOI, Vietnam (AP) - An official says a court in southern Vietnam has sentenced four people to up to eight years in prison for trafficking women to work as prostitutes in Singapore. Court official Pham Thi Ha says that ring leader Vo Thi Hiep was jailed for eight years for human trafficking and three others received three to six years behind bars on the same charges following Monday's trial in Tay Ninh province. She says the ring was convicted of selling 10 Vietnamese women to a Singapore brothel for $50 each between September last year and February. The victims had been promised jobs at restaurants. Ha said Tuesday that one trafficked woman refused to work in the brothel and arranged for her family to buy her freedom for $900. She then reported the ring to police.

“Underworld” existing in schools
========================================== VietNamNet Bridge – School violence has become more serious with many more violence cases discovered. Students not only assaulted classmates, but they also brought lethal weapons to schools and threatened teachers. The bullies in the school uniform It is recognized as a school of national standards, but Dong Kinh Secondary School in Lang Son province has become famous not for its educational achievements, but for its number of school violence cases. Nguyen Van Dai, 16, a 9th grader, related that he was attacked by a group of students right in the middle of the school yard. At 3pm of November 24, when Dai was holding the mobile phone of a classmate, he received a call from someone who called and insulted him. Tens minutes later, more than ten boys came to the school and repeatedly kicked him. A lot of students witnessed the fight, but no one dared to intervene or prevent the boys from fighting. The gangsters only left after they knocked the boy unconscious. Luckily, Dai was brought to the Lang Son hospital and he has been recovering. According to Dai, among the strikers, there were four 10th graders from Viet Bac High School in Lang Son province. Student threatened teacher with knife On November 3, in a geography lesson, La Trung S, an 8th grader, refused listen to the teacher and made disturbances in the class. Teacher Dang Minh Thai asked S to keep silent, but S ignored. S ate oranges in the middle of class and talked back to the teacher. Teacher Thai, who was very angry at that time, said: “Are you also this misbehaved at home?”. Then S threw a book into the teacher. Returning to the class after reporting the case to the school’s management board, Thai was stunned when seeing S, who stood on the way with a knife. Even the school’s security officers could not control S. Meanwhile, some students related that S threatened to damage the school if he is expelled from school. Society keeps indifferent to school violence? In the police report filed by Tran Nguyen Hong Anh, a 11th grader of Viet Bac High School , on September 26, V.A, a classmate, and five other female students came to Hong Anh’s house, where the group of female students sprayed Hong Anh with tear gas and beat Hong Anh with a motorbike helmet. Tran Kim Chung, mother of Hong Anh, related that one week after Anh submitted the report, Tam Thanh ward’s police told Chung that since there were no witnesses or evidence, the police could not follow the case. Only after Chung tried to find witnesses and submitted further reports, have the police begun the investigation. “Now I want to get the report about the investigation result, but the police have refused,” she said. It seems that people keep indifferent viewpoints about the school violence. The case, where teacher Dang Minh Thai was threatened with a knife by a student, has made educators furious. However, people and agencies have different opinions about how to deal with the student. The school’s management board said that it would be better to “save” the student by giving him one more chance. Meanwhile, other people believe that the student needs to be heavily punished. When a group of Tien phong newspaper’s reporters said they wanted to interview Thai, the teacher was still in fear because she was still under too much pressure. Source: Tien phong

Ten cops disciplined over sex scandal
================================================== == Police authorities in the northern province of Quang Ninh on December 6 decided to discipline ten police officers for allegedly filming the arrest of two naked prostitutes after the footage was posted on the Internet. Accordingly, six police officers will be downgraded, from one to two badge ranks and one of them is going to be transferred immediately. Second in command of the Cam Pha Police’s Social Crime Investigation Division Ngo Duy Nang will not have a salary increase for one year. Leader of the Cam Pha Police’s Social Crime Investigation Division Le Si Toan and deputy chief of Cam Pha Police Hoang Thanh Nhuong will be downgraded two ranks to emulation work. Senior lieutenant colonel Nguyen Quoc Tien, Cam Pha chief police will be downgraded one rank to emulation work. Furthermore, The Cam Pha Police will not be recognized in the emulation unit for the year 2010. In Vietnam, prostitution is still illegal. However, all police officers must respect persons they interview or have parties with, including prostitutes. A clip shot from an unidentified location, posted on You-tube in November, shows a tattooed man and two naked girls trying to cover themselves with their hands, while the police officers yell insults at them. A police spokernperson said, “One of the girls can be seen sitting on the bed naked, while an officer in plain clothes repeatedly shouts at her to stand up and extend her arms for him to take a picture. Another two police officers say humiliating things to the women, making them cry. While another police officer is taking pictures of the scene with his mobile phone”. After the clip was posted on the internet, many people wrote to many newspapers demanding that the police ministry discipline the “uncouth” police officers. By A.Minh - Translated by Thanh Huong

Re: Tieng Viet lovers club
Banh Xeo! – a traditional Vietnamese flavor
================================================== ===== Banh Xeo! – a delicious sounding word that brings back warm memories from the past; a word that a traditional Vietnamese family knows very well, because it is a taste which every Vietnamese has grown up with. It is a word etched firmly in the memory of all Vietnamese palates, nostalgic about their childhood. Banh Xeo is best described as a pancake or crepe made from rice flour. It has always been a tradition to serve this dish as a comfort food to the family and also as a welcoming dish for friends and relatives visiting a Vietnamese home. Vietnamese women learnt how to make this dish very early in childhood from their mothers. Banh Xeo has always been quintessentially a Vietnamese dish which added that special warmth of family and loved ones in a Vietnamese kitchen. However, this tradition is slowly fading as Banh Xeo is now being sold commercially in supermarkets and restaurants. Although Banh Xeo is still accepted as a delicacy, it however lacks the flavor of home cooking. The recipe behind Banh Xeo. Modern day housewives hesitate from preparing Banh Xeo in their kitchen. The process requires effort and is time consuming. The rice is soaked overnight, then ground by hand before flavors and seasoning are added to taste. The stages of preparation are many and require a skilled hand in order to give the batter the right amount of fluffiness, crispness and flavor. The process is far more complicated than it seems and every Vietnamese woman adept in the art of making a perfect Banh Xeo has a little secret trick up her sleeve! So much so, that in days gone by, mothers-in-law often asked their future daughters-in-law to make Banh Xeo to check their skills! However, nowadays pre-mixed Banh Xeo flour is readily available. It is easier to prepare as the flour only needs to be mixed with water and it is ready to be fried in the pan. Among the many brand names of Banh Xeo available, the more popular one is ‘Huong Xua’ meaning ‘ancient flavor’. The Huong xua Banh Xeo flour comes premixed with all the flavors and is the closest taste to the traditional Vietnamese Banh Xeo. It is crisp in taste and easy to make. The modern housewife does worry about eating Banh Xeo as it is fried in oil. Those on a diet abstain from eating it! Though Banh Xeo made from Huong Xua flour does not require too much oil as it is produced with modern Japanese technology which does not let the flour retain oil and makes the crepes smooth and easy to make. This new Japanese technology is a joint venture of a Japanese-Vietnamese enterprise called Intermix. It is the first such company in Vietnam and it has been successful in creating a fast and easy to make product. Besides their Banh Xeo flour, Intermix is also making other products such as cake and dumpling premixed flour. By Phu Chi
