================================================= VietNamNet Bridge – Repeated cases of school violence cases which occurred in recent days have raised doubts that the measures taken by the Ministry of Education and Training (MOET) and general schools to fight school violence are useless. Measures still cannot help Deputy Minister of Education and Training Tran Quang Quy said MOET has been applying comprehensive measures in an effort to stop school violence. He said local authorities, organizations, students and students’ families need to cooperate with each other to stop the evil. The ministry has asked schools to have clear behaviors towards the fight cases. Schools must criticize the fighting and impose heavy fines on violent behaviors. They have also been told to tightly control the learning time of students at schools and apply drastic measures to prevent students from giving up lessons. A big problem now is that though students tell their parents that they go to school, they actually skip class and participate in join fights. MOET has also called on schools to renovate the method of teaching citizen morality to students. The lessons about morality need to become more lively and attractive, so as to help strengthen the education of morality and life skills to students. In HCM City, in April 2010, the city’s education and training department organized a seminar on combating school violence. At the seminar, Huynh Cong Minh, Director of the education and training department, admitted that though school violence has been existing for a long time, recently the number of cases and the seriousness of the cases have sharply increased. Nguyen Khac Huy, Head of the Students’ Affair Division of the HCM City Education and Training Department, said that a lot of lessons have been learned from the seminar. Teachers need to take more care of students, provide analyses on the bad consequences of school violence, and regularly give advice to students on their problems. Educators have especially realized that a close cooperation between schools and relevant agencies, especially the police, is very important in preventing school violence. With a lot of measures put forward and implemented, educators once felt secure that the school violence will be restrained. However, in reality, more and more school violence cases have still been occurring, which has sparked doubts about the effectiveness of the measures applied by the educators. Civil affair committees have been set up for every class of Mach Kiem Hung Secondary School in HCM City. A branch of the Youth Union also exists in every class. The school has an open letter-box, to which every student can send letters and provide information about school violence cases. There is also a consultancy room managed by some key teachers of the school. However, a case of school violence still occurred recently in the school. A group of female students beat another student in a class with the participation of many other students. The problem was that even the class monitor was also involved in the fight and the school did not know about the case until the clips of the fight were posted on Internet. Phan Dinh Long, Headmaster of Mach Kiem Hung school, admitted that there is a trend of “taking off shirts and filming” at the school, and the serious thing is that students do not think they behaviours are very bad. Students afraid of revenge When asked why students do not provide information about fights to schools and relevant agencies, many students honestly said that they are afraid of revenge. Long admitted that the case shows the failure of the school in preventing school violence. Nguyen Huu Khanh, Headmaster of Le Thi Hong Gam High School in HCM City, said though the school has taken drastic measures to restrain school violence, cases still occur sometimes. Students fight because they still have not realized the danger of their behaviors. Ho Thi Ngoc Vuong from Nguyen Trung Truc High School, said that the current curriculum is too heavy in theory, while there are not many useful lessons on life skills and behavior, both important factors that help develop the personality of students. Meanwhile, many people believe that the current fines on violations are still not heavy enough to deter students. Especially, they have also pointed out that it is the “achievement disease” (schools only want to report their achievements while trying to hide problems) which has made the school violence become more serious. The Lam Dong province’s police said that many schools refuse to provide the list of bad students, so that the police can take a close watch over them. Source: Nguoi lao dong

Re: Tieng Viet lovers club
“.vn” is the most dangerous domain in the world?
================================================== VietNamNet Bridge – McAfee, the anti-virus solution provider, has released a report, saying that Vietnamese domains have become easy prey for technology criminals. However, Vietnamese experts still have doubts about the survey. McAfee, using the database of Global Threat Intelligence service, analyzed 27 million websites from 120 countries. The database gathers the information from 150 million photodiodes located in 120 countries. McAfee has found out that 58 percent of websites with the domain suffix “. vn” contain penetrating codes. When accessing the dangerous websites, computer users would have their sensitive information stolen. In general, 6.2 percent of total 27 million websites have been considered as “having high risks”. The figure is higher than the figure released last year, 5.9 percent. Other websites which are considered high risk may contain some penetrating software which exploit programming holes to install attacking codes onto the computers of Internet users. The web environment has become harsher – this is the conclusion by McAfee when viewing the recent activities of hackers. The survey by McAfee pointed out that Vietnam has become the attractive destination for high-technology criminals in this year. In 2009, Vietnam’s domains only ranked 39th on the list of the riskiest domains worldwide. In this year’s report, Vietnam’s domains rank third on the list of most dangerous domains (29.4 percent), just behind commercial domains “.com” (31.3 percent) and “. infor”. Meanwhile, “.vn” is considered the most dangerous national domain in the world. About 15,000 out of 24,000 websites with suffix “. vn” have been reportedly exploited and controlled by hackers. Other national domains which also have high risks include Cameroon (.cm – 22,2%), Armenia (.am – 12,1%), Cocos (.cc – 10,5%) and Russia (.ru – 10,1%). Among general domains, domains with the suffix “. infor” became popular in 2010 with its number of dangerous websites increasing by 94.5 percent. The number of risky domains with the suffix “.com” has reached one million. To explain the increases of the penetrating activities, McAfee Labs’ Internet Security Research Director Paula Greve said hackers always target the regions which have low website registration fees and low risks of being discovered. Therefore, very safe websites this year can be the targets of hackers the next year. However, Buu dien newspaper quoted Hoang Minh Cuong, Deputy Director of the Vietnam Internet Network Information Centre (VNNIC) as saying that there are many “doubtful” points in the survey. “It is nearly impossible to see the number of dangerous websites increasing so dramatically over just one year,” he said. Agreeing with Cuong, Nguyen Minh Duc, Director of BKIS (Bach Khoa Internet Security Centre), also said BKIS is quite surprised with the survey released by McAfee, especially because BKIS always works with malicious websites containing the codes exploited in Vietnam. BKIS thinks that the result released by McAfee is not very accurate. Among the 25,000 surveyed domains (Vietnam now has 170,000 websites with “.vn” domain, more than 50 percent of which are websites with malicious codes. “This means that there is a high probability of accessing the “.vn” websites which contain malicious codes. Meanwhile, the probability is low for normal internet users. According to BKIS, in 2009, 1000 website attack cases in Vietnam were reported, while the figure in 2010 is about 700-800. The attacks mostly targeted the government’s websites (“.gov.vn”). Buu dien also has quoted Vu Quoc Khanh, Director of Vietnam Computer Emergency Respond Team (VNCERT) under the Ministry of Information and Communication as saying that the ministry will contact McAfee to clarify the method McAfee used. Prior to that, Kaspersky also released a report with similar pessimistic result. P.V

================================================== ===== VietNamNet Bridge – The idea of taking nude wedding photos is new in Vietnam But it is anticipated to become a popular trend very soon. In Vietnam’s neighboring country – China, taking nude wedding photos began in 2007 and by now it has become a populartrend. Chinese youth explained that wedding is a unique event in their lives and taking nude wedding photos is to record their deep love and memorable moments. They are willing to pay a lot of money to have a nude wedding album. But most Chinese parents think this is too much against customs. In Vietnam, taking nude photos is said to become popular soon. A person with nickname keynis wrote on az24.vn forum: “It is interesting! my girlfriend and I will take nude wedding photos”. The manager of a photo shop on Le Duan road, Hanoi, told Life and Law Newspaper that taking nude wedding photos has been practised in Hanoi for nearly a year. There are two kinds of nude photos, partly and entirely nude. He also said that prices depend on the amount of pictures, the quality of printing paper and the picture sizes but generally, couples have to pay at least VND9 million ($450) for an album. couples are warned about problems if their pictures are dispersed. Moreover, most of future mothers-in-law don’t like daughters-in-law who are “courageous” enough to take nude pictures. Some photo shop managers said they are requested to promise/sign a contract with clients to keep their nude photos secret. Ngoc Le
