I have seen men (young teenager) slogging out to earn some money for his family.

I have seen men (adult) selling duck egg / handling mobile food stall at night to earn some money for his family.

I have seen men (old age) asking for luxury stuff (iphone, perfume) from his young daughter.

I have seen women (adult) playing cards at home and buying lottery by big amount.

I have seen poor family (men and women) working together to earn money to feed their children.

I have seen non-WL bitching around.

I have seen WL caring (cooking, cleaning house, look after younger family members) for her family after work.

I have seen WL do nothing but sleep at home after work or go out disco/k-ok with all sort of guys during off day.

All these happens near my girlfriend house...

What bros are driving at are MOST but not ALL. So Bro KT may have seen good and hard working ones but i am sure you have also seen a lot of lazy and hopeless ones. Religion is just one thing, but i feel that family upbringing is the most important.

Yesterday had a conversation with my galfriend regarding filling up the DE card to come Sillypore... guiding her via phone/sms and also filling up a sample and send her thru yahoo.

She asked me if I am fed-up or not happy guiding her as she feel she is really stupid for not knowing the English words.

I brought up all her good points to her and tell her that I never ever did think that she is a stupid women.

But this incident make me very sad becoz I learned TV and speak to her in TV rather then encoraging her to speak in English/Chinese. She learned abit of both languages but just no confidence to speak out.

All these that you mentioned, I had seen...my points are most of the Viet men do for reasonable short time and money used for themselves to enjoy...no respsonsibility to the family....most men let their women provide for the family...

If she felt lidat...then worst when she marry you an settle down here in Sillypore...just ask her to learn English and/or Mandarin...be patient with her..

I think i mentioned several times for the past few years in the forum that its better for our lovely vietnamese spouse to learn either english or mandarin if they want to settle down in Singapore for the longer term. Armed with a reasonable level of either language will enable them to survive in competitive singapore. If they stay in Singapore and is handicapped by language proficiency, it will cause them to lose confidence staying in singapore for the longer term. One of the criteria to apply for citizenship for your spouse is that she must reach a certain proficiency in one of the 4 main languages of singapore, in our case, either english or mandarin.

Ntuc learning hub, British Council? Or any educational institution?

English courses are available in almost every major private school in singapore. Some students prefer british council as they believe it offers better standard. You got to understand the budget of the student also

I was told some wait until wife gets PR status before sending her for english lessons like BEST and WISE programs that are subsided my govt. And are issued certificates after their courses.
