Re: Liverpool Fc Anfield - Reds Supporters Gatherings

Although we have a good bunch of young players, they will need proper guidence and grooming.
Not sure if it is a good way to groom your young players by loaning them out.
Look at Anthony Le Tallac and Pogolle...
We need to devise a good system to be like Man U or Arsenal.
Look at their youth system, and those who made an impact.
Or how can we challenge them for the title...
Do hope we can secure Barry, he is quite experienced and it is this type of player who can lead by example like Stevie.

It's just that we, as fans, can't find out how this system will go exactly yet. I will trust Rafa's judgement on Barry. To be honest, Alonso has had a forgettable season last year by his own high standards. Knowing how his place is in danger, I think we will see Alonso back to his best.

The other issue to me will be the youngsters. I think it will be a waste if they are only to play in the reserve league or the earlier stages of the League cup only. How many high quality competitive games will they get per year? We should loan as many out to Premiership or Championship sides as possible. We have a very good crop of youngsters, better than any team's youngsters, including Arsenal's and Man U's.
I agree with Bro Xgenre. I believe Alonso would be back to his best this season. He looked sharp during Euro and has been pretty good so far during the pre-season. Perhaps Barry's move to Liverpool may just be the ideal tonic (or kick up the arse) to wake Alonso up and make him play better?

I've watched some of the highlights of the pre-season games and I think the youngsters all look pretty good with Nemeth and Pacheo (spelling?) looking particularly impressive.

I suppose we could loan them out but I much rather they stay and try to compete for their places. Its going to be a long season and we need a squad that has enough depth to compete in all competitions. I reckon the league cup and early stages of the FA cup will be the main stages for these players to prove their worth and hopefully blossom into first team players soon.

Either way, this season looks to be full of promise. Can't wait for action to start in 2 weeks! I'm even backing Liverpool to finally end their title drought this season. $8.00 to win title at https://asiansports.lasseterssports.com.au. haha...not too bad.

yes, both barry and keane r very flexible and willing... i dont see keane complaining even when he had to play on the wings for spurs.

but i m not too sure about the defensive skills of dossena... his crossing is fantastic but defending a bit suspect.

So if people can look at what Rafa does and what he says, they will realise he is NOT going to get a winger, who can play only one position and live and die on the sidelines (literally).
so should sell pennant or not???

Yes it's alot of money for Barry but I think many fans are upset cos it means Alonso has to leave (not sure about this from Rafa's latest comments). It means we are being treated as a top club by smaller clubs, so I suppose we should accept this in future and get along with it.
Yes agreed, Plessis would need more experience, and both Barry and Mascherano would be good tuitor for him,

Plessis have certainly make the fans feels he is good enough, and willing, and would hope he can develop into a frist-team regular,

Also not forgetting the no19 in the Ranger game, not Babel, but Spearing, he is from the youth setup, and its a long time since SG and JC we have any kids stepping up from the youth team. Together with Darby, they are performing well enough in those friendly games.

Yes Netmeth have been gaining rave reviews in the youth setup / reserve team, and was playing in the youth euro or wat cup game in jun. another player to watch out for in the near future.

Maybe is the role he is playing for Liverpool? if not wrong, he use to be the goto player in westham, but in Liverpool, he is just another player, hardworking and play with level of intelligence.

nah... i remembered cos my bros were all screaming "NBCB, pass to kuyt" at ngog during the game.

nemeth's first time shot impressed me and his running off the ball showed that he has much to offer...

Re: Liverpool Fc Anfield - Reds Supporters Gatherings

I was reading the forum from the official LFC website & they were all saying the youngters like nemeth, pacheco, insua, plessis.......etc are not ready for 1st team football...........

I beg to differ...........with 7 reserves allow this season, i think we should place place at least 5 young players on the beach so that they can get the maximum exposure for all competitions.........not juz the carling cup..........

where would fabregas be w/o wenger showing faith by making him a regular & he even play a 16 year old wilshere against real madrid last nite & declaring he is part of the first team squad this coming season........this is how you boost a young players confidence & like the saying goes.....when you are good enough.........you are old enough.........players like owen, rooney, messi, pato are good recent examples & do you guys remember a young man utd side that won the EPL in the 1990s with beckham, scholes, neville......etc

sincerely hope gems like nemeth, ngog, plessis & pacheco show their true potential & "established" youngter like babel to really step up a gear this season...........

come on you reds!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Bro, Rafa is hardly known for not blooding youngsters when they are ready - look at Plessis and Insua last season and he has also persisted with Babel on the left and Lucas in the middle.

Ultimately it must be about ability. Is Insua better than Aurelio or Dossena? Nemeth compared to Torres or Keane?

Lots of people admire Arsenal (I don't) but the question I ask is, what have they won recently?

Also, why they never played Walcott much? That guy cost more than any of our young players.

We have the scum breathing down our title haul and we want to create a winning team. With youngsters, you are likely to need a bedding in period. They might turn great in the end, or bad, but by then, the season would have been over. And the manager who used them would have been sacked.

So I don't think there needs to be a pro-youngster policy. The first and foremost is the team.

I haven't seen Dossena play yet. Can lah, the advantage of attacking is greater than defending in this case. Someone else like Lucas or JM can cover the side when Dossena attacks. I hope he really has a fantastic cross as you said!!

I think Pennant is better than most fans think - his great weakness is he can't score for nuts. The only thing I'm unhappy with is if he leaves Pool for 4m. A good English player for 4m!!! That's just bonkers lor.

I dont doubt Pennant's ability as a player. When he was in Birmingham, he was a solid performer. Unfortunately, the same cannot be said when he came over to Liverpool. The guy's got a fantastic cross but as I've said many times, a lot of them fail to get pass the first defender. Perhaps it is a case of not playing sufficient 1st team games to get into the groove. If he ever leaves, I'll probably only remember him as the guy who scored a great goal against Chelsea. Sad..

If we can afford to keep him, then perhaps he deserves a second chance particularly since selling him at 4 million is (as Bro Rahl pointed out) BONKERS. If i'm not mistaken, we paid about 6.3 million for him and with the obscene valuations of players nowadays, that is simply not right.

Pennant is one of the few players who can hold and dribble the ball....good when comes to unsettling a tight defense...but i also feel he have not been performing to his fullest potential...hope he don't end up like another Kewell...
