Cebu City Mayor Michael Rama is faced with a choice of tax revenue or moral-legal standards of doing business.

He could reconsider his one-year closure of a KTV bar because of the economic activity it brings to the city.

Or he could stand by the censure of the anti-indecency board that said the bar continued to present female strippers, despite previous warnings.

Rama yesterday said he was willing to discuss an appeal for a second chance with owners of Las Vegas KTV music lounge, but no representative has approached him yet.

“The mayor is reasonable,” Rama said.

He added that while he wants the city’s anti-indecency ordinance enforced, he didn’t want “to be killing the goose that lays the golden eggs.”

Rama said he is willing to hear the bar owner’s side and that he is aware that taxes, especially those paid by businesses enterprise, “are the lifeblood of the city.”

The bar’s legal counsel, Inocencio dela Cerna, in an earlier interview, said his client was ready to pay a P100,000 bond to support their appeal to be allowed to operate again with an assurance that no violation would be repeated.

The two-year-old bar at the North Reclamation Area was padlocked five days before Christmas. About 100 workers found themselves out of jobs.

Mayor Rama signed the order based on the recommendation of the Cebu City Anti-Indecency Board (CCAIB), which had called the attention of the bar’s management about the nude dancing in the premises only to see the activity repeated.

I will be visiting AC with a friend from 25-27 Jan 2014.This is our first trip and we are not sure of the followings.

1.) How much is sufficient (sgd to change)? We are not very good drinkers and we are looking for female companions.

2.) What to look out for? I.e transport and meals? Police raids?

3.) How do we find girls for overnight session? I understand from this thread about barfine but some suggest that barfine is dangerous/illegal in AC?

4.) Are there any shopping malls ard AC? Are the stuffs cheaper compare to sg?Thanks in advance..I hope bros in here will be able to guide us along. Even better if there are any bros who will be visiting on the same period as us...

i typically bring 100-150sgd worth of peso outside. barfine range from 1500-3000. i'm also not good drinker, i recommend san miguel apple or lemon. light on alcohol.

avoid beggars. bring condom from here to there. Bring alot Condoms!

contrary to what u read, barfine is the safest to get girls in AC. if it is raiding season in AC, I recommend u consider Subic. same concept but cheaper. almost across the board 1500P.

one of the nearest mall is called SM Clark. meaning supermall clark. i believe SM also own Smart telco, hence u can get microsim at zero cost. (meaning 100P credit with 100P). SM clark have nice cinema and a Imax. Imax is 400P per ticket. but its really good!

A group of young Singaporean men whom just finished NS and went to AC to cheong..... because there were 8 of them so they rented a condo unit instead of staying in hotel to save money. Being recently out from the army they were also on budget so mostly only drink in the bars but never barfine..... then one evening they met an FL who agreed to go back with them to their condo. The arrangement was one of the guys will bonk her for 1000p while the rest just pay 100p each to watch them do it..... but being young and hot blooded the rest cannot tahan whilst watching the act so they all joined in....... 8 men and 1 FL were soon having an orgy..... or so they thought.

When it was all over...... the FL demanded 3000p from every one of them. The stupid guys refused to pay 3000p each and only gave her 5000p in total. She was not happy and the cops were called in. All were brought back to Station 4 and told they had committed gang-rape. Many phone calls were made that night as these guys panicked and contacted relatives and friends for help. I happened to be in Manila at that time and was contacted by my business associate who is the father of one of the guys. The next day I went down to Station 4 with Mr. Selva from the Singapore Embassy and his lawyer friend...... it turned out to be an extremely costly lesson for these guys as the final amount they had to pay for their "Get out of jail" card was 100,000p each + compensation of another 50,000p to the FL.

I am sure after this incident.... none of these 8 guys will ever be traveling back to the PI for the rest of their lives.

ouch.. but stupid.. at 100,000P. can shutdown a bar by barfine every single dancer and waitress in the joint. plus leftover for a presidential suite in ABC to house the girls. and they thanks you after the session..

Just to emphasize... DO NOT bring more than 10k pesos when u arrive. Else u get taxed. In foreign currency, u can bring up to usd10k. So, do the changing of currency atfter u get to town. First trip, i would recommend u get the hotel driver to pick u up.

seriously ? the idea is to avoid getting caught, or putting yourself in such a position ..

But if you want to tempt your fate, keep aside anything upwards of 100,000 peso (3000 $) and be ready to loose your handphone, camera, laptop, IPAD and all others the cops may find in your room, as all will be taken as evidence ..

As far as I know, SG embassy doesn't have a presence outside Manila ..

PS: from my limited friends I have bumped into at some Pinay bars in Singapore, many guys sheepishly admitted they let themselves be taken to task, and had dreaded calling the embassy / embarassing the family ..

i totally agree with etsys...the key is NOT to get into such situations. Keep your head down, be humble... cheong for fun. If somehow you get into trouble, be cool about it and ask for a way out. In many cases, should be able to settle if nego in polite manner. Remember, be humble at all times...even though you are not at fault. It is a shakedown, after all!

Touch wood, I have not gotten into such trouble..but can see it lurking in all corners. Still, AC is no different from another cowboy town...well, even in KL you can get into trouble if you are unlucky, right? Just possibly wrong place at wrong time.

since I spend more time in Manila and Baguio, in Baguio, I never even felt unsafe, since the locals are pretty easy

Not in Manila, heck, I would grab my bag and jump out of a taxi than fight with a driver .. which never happens in Baguio, BTW.

In Manila, all it takes to trigger a fight is a simple yelling at a taxi driver, pushing a street kid who insists on blocking your path or anything that locals can use as excuse to pat you down .. same goes for AC ..

btw in Manila, what do you do when a 15 or so aged kid stops you with arms stretched out insisting you pay him money, and you see cops having no interest in the drama unfolding ? you can push him and proceed or be smarter and do a U Turn and walk faster away .. or save all this hassle and take a taxi than walk ..

In Baguio you can firmly say "Step away" and it works .. not in Manila ..

btw, many guys who got robbed in Perimeter / AC fail to admit they saved the trike fare and instead got robbed
