well, few ideas.

1 - get a lock for your backpack, those travel lock, throw my more valuable stuff inside then lock it

2 - bring your wallet with u when in toilet, troublesome but ,,,

3 - recently bought one antitheft bag from this company called pacsafe, boguht in changi airport travellers world, its a small pack that is wire meshed to prevent knife cutting and able to loop around fixed object and lock, i use it when doing backpacking in BKK or elsewhere. google "pacsafe"

Thanks all bros for posting valuable experiences and guides and especially bro baby for answering my pm currently read until page 230 now. hopefully can finish reading everything before I go on my first trip tmr 8am. I do have one question that I am unsure about. I went to change sgd to rupiah. money changer gave me all notes of 50000.. asked him for smaller notes and he say dont have. Is there covenience store right at tbk jetty that I can buy stuff from and break up the note? The blue van cost 4k and not sure they will give back change. Thanks.

50000 is abt $5 only, u should consider yourself lucky she not greedy didn't took much more.
Just deduct from your intended tip to her lor if u r bothered by it.

U can deposit your big money at most hotel reception w receipt n put spending money in locked bag while sleeping next time if no safe deposit box available.
