Yes town areas have better rates: Arcade, Chinatown
If in KL, some along Bt Bintang (Oppoosite Lot1) have even better rates than Singapore.

Touching on the subject of fake notes..... does anyone here know where I can get the portable device that the polis is using to confirm if the notes are fake?
I am not referring to the UV scanner that banks normally use but the handheld device the polis patrol car carry with them when they respond to fake notes cases.

I have no idea.. But I do seen before a pocket torchlight type of scanner.
Sorry can't recall where I saw that..

That's not it..... it's a rectangular shape and look similar to a palmtop and works like a scanner..... The officer will place the note on it, close the cover and about 30s later the screen will show whether the checklist matched..... those that do not will be highlighted so the officer will know which parts of the note failed the test and zero in to confirm.

Anyway the polis procedure now is simpler and tourist friendly for those who are unfortunate to have been given fake notes..... instead of having to go down to the polis station..... now the investigator come down to the shop with the device, take a short statement from you, he will take custody of the fake notes and give you an acknowledgement form..... and you are free to carry on with your shopping.

Maybe you can check out ebay and see... tons of weird stuff there..
