Re: 164 Days in Singapore Changi Prison
Hi all,
Just wanna share that I made a silly mistake resulting in being charged for shoptheft. I forgot to pay for my mechandise which I left in a plastic bag when I left the supermarket. I am 25 male with no past records of any sorts before. Police was called it and it was truly embrassing to walk out of the supermarket in handcuffs. The IO told me that I would be given a warning on the account that it was my first time being arrested and the item was not a high value item. (It was just daily shaving blades). I am due to go back to the station 1 week later to hand in my bail form. Firstly, am I expected to recieve the verdict when I hand in the form? I seen previous entry that it took them 2-3 years to charge them? 2ndly, issit the IO that calls the final verdict? I am so afraid if they approach the supermarket again because they were bent on charging me. Not even giving me any second to explain. "Go talk to the police, Now shut up." 3rdly, a mistake is a mistake, I do admit it. How much roughly would the fine be. |

Anyway, I don't think got fine or anything because you're not going to court. Since it's a mistake that you acknowledge and learn from already, move on. Good luck in your life bro! |

Re: 164 Days in Singapore Changi Prison
Thanks bros for the enlightenment.
I tried calling the CID and various police departments during my current work to screen other employees, but was advised that the police will not reveal records. Of course, I do not deny other unorthordox methods to gain information. I was sentenced due to drugs trafficking, drugs possession, and drugs consumption. Due to the massive amount, my sentence was a tat longer. I was first in Sembawang DRC, but as a criminal, not a drug addict. DRC's life is relatively better than criminal prison, IMO. But I heard now everything has combined and everyone is mixed in the new Cluster B in Changi Prison Complex. During my time in DRC prison, life was good. Good food, and got TV to watch every night. Many things are available inside, so time was fast. Later, I was transferred to Cluster A in Changi Prison Complex. Life is totally different. My cell has no natural light. Ventilation of air is through a huge blower. TV is restricted to 3 hours a day (after serving for a few year.. newbies only have 1 hours of out-of-cell time per day). Food is bad. Smuggling is difficult. I heard Cluster B is worse now. So advice, do what you want, don't ever fuking get caught!

First timers for shop-lifting can be very light, but it really depends on the judge. I've seen shoplifters who got off with warnings. I've seen some jailed for weeks, some months. Repeated offenders, I've seen the worse was 5 years Corrective Training (no deductions, need to serve full sentence term). But I suggest you don't worry, since your's was not intentional. If they really charge you, get a cheap lawyer or mitigate yourself.

Re: 164 Days in Singapore Changi Prison
Regarding the few hooligans that murdered that guy at Down Town East, there seems to be no news now and had all gone very quiet... I remember that the newspaper mentioned that they will be charged in Dec 2010. But now already Jan 2011..
Any bro can share the latest? |

Re: 164 Days in Singapore Changi Prison
I notice this gen court cases are sort of classify into groups, probably easy for the judges to give sentences. If that’s true? All charged in court got the max, unless the person wishes to apply another hearing.
Downtown East murder might be put in the top, seldom so many people were charged with the same murder. All things take time, investigations are ongoing and, I think after 2 years in lockup. They will somehow slimmer down, the gov wised to convert a message to the people they know. I am sad to see young people spending the rest of their lives behind bars, not forgetting 10 yrs ago the young man who murdered an Insurance lady. I have written of this, also a NS man which stole a rifle. Forward 10 yrs later, he came out everything changes, family growth older and GFs got married. Successfully buddies bought Condo, drive fast cars with beautifully wives Still I believed those who done time, fines is all right, come clean to your bosses. We are talking of job interview, this is a small country, soon people know. People of this country need to learn from ang mo 1 thing. Certain degrees they told the truth. But ang mos here after a period of time also, sort of behave like us. Scare die and loose. A good example is Elton John who married another man, it is shocking to me but after it. I think he is smart, he don’t want years later his man who may ask for sum of $ after separation. Or papers wrote shits on him yrs later. |

Re: 164 Days in Singapore Changi Prison
to some extent i think i am fortunate to have the chance to visit most of the prisons.
Cluster A and B, KBC, AWP, Selarang, Khalsa, SD, TMP and even CWP. Having seen the 'lifestyle' of inmates, it really deters me to think of committing any crime. These days, the treatments are a very civilised where i feel inmates are treated with quite a lot of respect. I became friends with many inmates through my course of work and they are very good people. Too bad they are easily tempted. At times i am puzzled why this nice guy, can be a 15 timer. Many inmates are smart.. imagine doing A levels or private degree studying on your own and get A's. Not easy. Dont look down on past offenders.. i know they can do a lot of good, if given the chance. |

Re: 164 Days in Singapore Changi Prison
Bro, congrats on your freedom. Cherish it and careful of future temptations. Dun mind being a little long winded here. The path ahead will be quite tough. This record thing is going to stick and will prove to be a huddle in pretty much every job you apply for. Dun let it beat you. Endure and endure and endure. Very easy to take the step back, but really endure....
i wish you all the best. |

Quote:
Bro,you re 1st timer for drugs? sentence wil be 1year DRC.Be aware that total is 3 years, but that is seldom the case, but if you get into alot of trouble, can extent n extend you up to 3 years....If you got not much record, meaning both drugs,or criminal and last offence was quite sometime ago,n have good family support, will be elligible for a 6mth programme. Usually serve 6mths,then go halfwayhouse 6mths or like i said, good family support, good behaviour will be eligible for 6mths tagging.Meaning, you will be out in 6 mths, will be allow to go home n work, but after work have curfew at home.Must report back to prison for weekly and suprise urine test. Once you completed your 1 year,be it in prison or out for 6mths programme, last day,CNB will come down n hand you your urine card. Meaning,u re discharged from prison.BUT,have to report to police station for urine test for 1 year....if you alwayss keng MC,can drag till 2 years(remember I told you total is 3 years,no matter what. Let say you re good, then will be around 1 year(average- 11mths to 13mths depends up to them). Talking bout urine test at police station, starting will start 1,3,5(mon,wed,fri) report for urine until they song n see u re ok,let you repert once a week...after they song again, twice a week. But of coz they will also call you for suprise urine test....until you complete or they release you... DRC usually wear black short, those charge in court will wear blue(those who re charge in court will wear blue, same as criminal) Black shorts,if you get into trouble or break the law usually tambah(extent) minimum 2weeks,1month,or 2-3 months, unlike blue shorts. I will explain bout blue shorts,n black shorts to youmore if you need as drug case have few different scenarios.....too complicated. Juz giving you a rough idea, coz too long to explain,if you need to know more, pls by all means ask, or pm me or we can even meet for kopi...will explain futher as I understand your feelings and help/assists what I can to fellow sammy bros ... |
