Living in AC (or anywhere in the world), always best to try ST first to get a "feel" for the gal either at the ST rooms or another location. But admit it is not always possible or economical for any LT as it could add up cost quickly. Paying for LT overnite hotel room and also have regular rent from primary location, so if have urges every nite then "rent" could double or triple.= (Regular rent and additional hotel room cost)
I've stayed in AC once for over 3 months a long time ago and actually rented a place and brought back BF about 2-3 times a week to my rental apt..
All I can say is that if you do bring back to place of residence then Don't do what Bill did and make a situation. Any disagreements then simply let her go and find another. Not worth getting hurt or kill over a few pesos.

The above recommendations also apply if you also take back BF to your hotel as making a bad scene with her and it can also turn deadly as there is no difference here as she still knows where you live(although hotel stay is temporary). She could still tell her local goon friends to wait outside your hotel at nite and jump you when you leave or returning. Not likely anything will happen inside the hotel as most have guards but you do have to leave the hotel sooner or later .Again, not worth it over a few pesos. Stay calm and you will live longer.

Just my thoughts on the topic.

Thansk Much

Changing large sums is not recommended (as stated by others) unless you need alot of money for some business transactions or something of that nature. You have too much to lose if something goes wrong (muggings, robbery, hotel theft, etc etc etc) I always use the ATM and withdraw enough for a few days use only so anything happens I will only be out about 3 days money. As money runs low then repeat and reload at ATM.
I carry cash when travelling in another country but again only enough for about 3 days use. The cash from home is more my emergency money and not my main source. My main source have ALWAYS been ATM withdraws.

Best ATM to use is Citibank as they don't charge any ATM transaction fees if you have a regular Citibank checking or savings account back home and their exchange rates are very good (actually among the best of all the banks I used in AC). Exchange rate is the International rate of that day minus only 1% for the mandatory Intl currency conversion fee) .
Again, just my thoughts and in this case, it's actually what I do everytime I'm in AC.

So bottom line and advise is simple. Just open a Citibank acct at home, fund it with enough for use overseas before leaving home and use the ATM card so you could withdraw in AC with no fees. The withdraws from ATM will be in local currency (pesos). Hope this helps.

Stay safe guys

I agree on this! Citibank has one of the most favourable exchange rate for my credit card. Nothing beats it! The worse I use is Amex. But from my friends, Standard chartered rate is even worse!! Never ever use standard chartered credit card overseas!!! =p

PT was correct as I often use only ATMs when I'm in AC. No need to carry large amts of cash that can be stolen or lost and no way to recover the lost. Use of ATMs are safer as the only thing you can lose is the card itself or whatever cash u happen to withdraw (and 3 days worth is a good starting amt). Any illegal access of ATM withdraws are fully refundable but I usually just keep enough in the acct just for the use I will need while in AC, so if someone did try to fuly empty my acct it still won't be much. I keep my personal savings/checking accts and banks separate from my "hobby p4p" bank accts.

Bro, If I'm not mistaken, withdrawing from ATM using a credit card will be treated as a cash advance (or loan from the card) and this incurs a much higher payment fees and higher transaction and rate fees. Best use of ATM with almost no fees is to link it to your personal bank acct. I've done both and trust me it could be a difference of $20-25 /transaction (depending on amt withdrawn).

Hey Phantom, didn't u once tell me there was a reason u didn't recommend using Citibank? can't remember the reason though.

Last time I was in AC, the safest way to get the 50p jeepney back to airport was to go to the Dao bus terminal as this is the last stop for the jeepney. It "should" make a run about 2hrs before a flight departs but this is not guarantee so if no jeepney shows up then you are stuck taking a taxi to make your flight.

Re: Angeles City (Balibago) Tips

More bad news from AC.
A friend of mine recently got back and emailed me this news.

Another foreigner and his girlfriend have been found murdered inside their house in Sta. Maria Subdivision earlier today after a foul decaying smell prompted police to check the house. It appears that the Caucasian foreigner of yet unknown identity was stabbed whilst his girlfriend might have been choked to death a few days ago.

This has happened only days after the murder of the Canadian and his girlfriend in the Oasis Hotel villa. Whether it is the same killer or merely coincidence is still unclear.

The foreigner involved was of British nationality and shot with a 9mm caliber pistol in the face whilst a bullet wound was found in the girlfriends lower body. The caliber used was the same as that of the Canadian case and both presumably used a silencer. Neighbours, however, had heard some shouting between a male Filipino and the slain girlfriend on a date which would have been just before the presumed day of the murder. This, prompting the speculation that the girlfriend might have had an argument with a Filipino boyfriend in the house beforehand.

The two murder cases surely will catch the attention of Angeles City's highest officials who will do everything possible to solve the cases.

Man, you do have a good memory (at least partial).

Yes, I did tell you and also posted that the Citibank ATM was the best and cheapest option to get cash safely without having to carry too much.
But what you forgot and the details are important, I said I only recommended only seasoned and experience bros that are familiar with AC for using Citibank ATM. Reason was simple. It is not an easy place to reach as the ATM machine is not near any central location. It is about a 15 min walk each way (30min total RT) from Fields. I happen to do it because I need the walk and also enjoy a little stroll away from the bars. If it gets too hot or raining then I usually take the 8p jeepney there and back. The Citibank is on McArthur about another 5min walk past the Casino.
But for most newbies I usually recommend what Ziebart or Rub and B. said, just exchange money at the money changers at the jeepney station near Chow King so don't have to worry about getting lost while carrying all that cash in AC or use the ATM machines (there are several) at the SM mall. These are all more central locations.
Sorry for the confusion guys.

Yo bro, where can u find citibank ATM in ac?what's the maximum daily withdrawal limit?

Just know recently if we use a posh debit/ATM card to withdraw from bpi(bank of Philippine)the charge is $2 instead of $5 for overseas withdrawal.

Anyone know where is the nearest bpi ATM near fields?can be found in sm mall?

Actually, from what I remember way back when the US air force was still running Clark AFB, it was much safer then as more security was handled by the US military all around the bar areas. More patrols and it was always 24/7 as it was always busy around Fields, Perimeter or Friendship any time of day/nite. Unlike today, it was truly a 24hr non-stop town back then. Back then the action didn't seem to start until after 11pm-12 and today action starts to wind down at this time.
And all I remember was it was fairly safe all day or night, there was always foot traffic almost everywhere as there were not many deserted or abandon areas(actually can't remember any at all as every inch of space from Fields all the way past Perimeter was full of bars and brothels). Today there are many deserted and dark/lonely patches around Perimeter, the only hassle I recall was that every other serviceman was fairly drunk and it could be trouble, not so much as the risk of getting robbed but getting into fights. Ah, the good old days of AC, what memories.

Today, rare to see any police patrols or even police outside of 1-2 area near the entrance to Fields. These days even the police are afraid of going into some areas at night.

Hi Rub,

You must have missed the post above yours. The Citibank is on McArthur going towards the Casino (I believe thats heading south=) Walking From fields when you reach the end of fields, will see a McDonlds, make a right and walk about 15min or so or take any jeepney going in that direction. The Citibank will be across on the other side of the street. The withdraw limits are much higher if you have a Citi acct than when withdrawing from other local ATM machines. Since there are no fees for withdraws via ATM, I don't usually reach the limit as I only take out what I need at the time.
Note: if you need to use BPhil. ATM it is only about 2 blocks from the Citibank also on McArthur and on the same side of the street as Citibank.
Yes, there use to be another Bank Phil Atm inside the mall but not sure if it was switch to BDO bank or another China bank machine. Sorry, Not 100% sure on this as I don't normally use BP Atms so don't pay too much attention.
Hope this helps bro.

Re: Angeles City (Balibago) Tips

Why worry ur local card get lost ?
Or exchange rates ?
or where the Citibank ATM is ?

Just walk-in to a BDO (the nearest at SM Mall entrance near overhead bridge)
Speak with a senior officer regarding opening a bank account.
She (usually a lady) will ask u come back with 2 photos (not from Facebook) and 2 government issued ID cards(i used passport and drivers license) with ur handsome photo on it.
Fill up a form...Long one.
And deposit 5000pesos for a BDO savings account with passbook and ATM debit card.
About 20mins later u have ur personal account.

When u come back to SG and u find the exhange rate is good or getting better, go to Lucky Plaza and find any of the remittance companies, pay $4 and u can remit money to urself.
Funds available in about 2 hours on working days.

Ur BDO ATM card lost, u can still queue up and use ur passbook to withdraw money. If both lost, can still use ur singapore ATM card.
Still cannot, can u SG$.
Still cannot, better think of selling backside.
