I went back to office on the 6th Feb thurs morning, wearing my mask & gave the security bro a nod & he smiled back. He does not know me but probably glad to see someone. Decided not to return to S'pore to remain here, the situation at SH isn't too severe but people are obviously very worried and afraid. Obviously now cannot go back already cos of the entry ban. There are fear-mongers and fake news on all kinds of online platforms but by now, everyone knows the virus will not go away anytime soon. Things will only get worse, it is how the local officials will get their act together and not let it explode out of control. Mistakes have been made, irreversible ones and it is impossible to track down all who have been infected but managed to leave Wuhan. I just hope the compassionate officials will be able to do their work & the corrupted & incapable ones will be removed and not hinder them. Schools remain closed here for now. Some had returned to work.

Anyway back to my office building. I thought I would be the only one but I saw Monica. The air in the office was quite stale & interestingly a little warmer than I expected. Monica gave me a wave, I knew she was working on a project which was quite delayed so she was catching up over the festive period. I removed my mask, took off my coat & walked to the pantry where I met Ann. Poor Ann, the moment I saw her I was reminded of how she was scolded by another senior manager for something that was not totally her fault but she kio everything. We took turns to give her hugs after that but she was very upset then. Maybe it is because of the impression that she gave others, the way she dresses to work sometimes can be quite alluring (you know what I mean) but this is how she was brought up and this is her personality so you cannot change that. Like this morning, she wore a tight black short skirt and gold satin cami top with lace trim. Her dress sense is abit 'angmoh type' one but this gold top and black skirt looked cheena enough. She was heating up her breakfast & making coffee. Looking towards her from her right side, it seemed to be that she wasn't wear anything beneath her top. She just returned to SH yesterday & told me she came to office because she didn't want Monica to be alone here and she was bored all alone at home.

I returned to my desk, turned on my desktop & laptop & began to prep for my this new project which will have its first meeting after the festive break. Sierra knew that I would be in office this morning so she asked me to come over to her place for lunch. Meaning she didn't want me to stay the whole day. After lunch, each of us went to do our own thing. Sierra & Monica took out their laptops, I went to lie on the couch and Ann started to scroll on her phone sitting nearby. Was busy for the past few weeks, forget to post this also.

After the city's restriction ended on the 9th Feb, our company officially resumed work on 12-13th with some opting to work from home. Our department worked from home on the 12th & came back on the 13th. One of the main reasons was we were worried come back to office, may not have food to eat and have to order food delivery which some are still skeptical of how well the food hygiene can be kept. Then interestingly, we came to the conclusion that all of us should work from home, partly due to the central air-conditioning in our building & also management changed their mind, said all should work from home for now. So except for some, most of us started working from home since then. Monica & Ivana share an apartment together, Sierra & I lived in the same estate, so only Ann & another PRC colleague are 'working alone' from home. We had one more female PRC colleague who was transferred out at the start of the year so we are looking for one more new staff. Sierra received an email from HR before CNY to indicate that they have one person for us to interview. She can speak English well, got project management experience and according to her, very good with PowerPoint. The only thing is that she just gave birth in Nov last year, they allowed her to have flexible work arrangement after her maternal break so she works from home for most of the week. Sierra gave her a call on Mon, they spoke over the phone to arrange a face to face meeting at her place ytd which she agreed. So Sierra & I went to look for our estate management, to arrange for her to come into the premise & they were quite understanding. Why I said that because now in & out of our estate is very strict, outsiders are not allowed inside, food delivery has to be dropped at the security counter & checked for a 'declaration tag' that some food companies are using. Then they will log in your delivery time b4 they allow u to pick up your food. This female colleague also has a 'office bitch' reputation & hearsay one of the management people is her relative. But her performance reviews were quite good & received no formal complaints so far.

So yesterday morning, we received this colleague at the gate & immediately went up to Sierra's apartment with a security guard 大哥. He was there to ensure that this person only goes to Sierra's apartment & not wandering around. We must also inform them once she was ready to leave so that they could escort her out. After we did our disinfecting, we removed our masks & formally introduced each other. She is quite pretty, long dark hair and quite tall. Sierra explained to her our team is mostly doing projects and sometimes got events need to go but since she has a young kid, we can do some arrangements to keep her in SH if we need to travel to other cities. Usually we will have at least 1 person in office all the time so she can be that person. After about 5 mins, we moved on to the dining table for the formal interview. I told her we would be recording the interview for HR requirement.

I mostly kept quiet and Sierra did all the questioning until it came to the part about presentations and ppt preparation. Sierra told her although she don't like people to work late, sometimes we have to work late to rush project deadlines and she said she understands. She said her mom is living with them and she even has a 清洁阿姨 during the day so she can cope. We heard her family background is quite affluent too. Sierra then repeat to her our 'team mechanics' and also each of our role in the team. She asked how come no guys in our team except me & Sierra told her actually we did had 2 guys previously but one asked to be transferred out after he got married and had a kid and for the other one, Sierra thought he could not make it & asked to transfer him out. We ended the interview in about 40min or so, hanged around for about 2-3 min for abit of chit-chatting b4 I walked her out when the security 大哥 returned. Sierra stayed to do the interview report for her Russian side, it was formality anyway but still needed to do. The only interesting part of all these was when we were walking to her car, she asked if she could take a quick puff before she gets into the car. The guard said okay but told us not to hang around too long & he would be waiting at gate. She thanked him politely with a smile & quickly threw her coat into the car & went looking for her cig in her handbag. About 2 days later, HR confirmed her transfer and she joined our team officially on the 2nd Mar.
