What is your definition of "exciting"?

I've been in NZ for more than a decade and it is hardly sterile in my books. In fact it's a lot less sterile than Singapore because the laws here are so liberal.

Can't match Times Square but heaps better than Singapore's night scene. More places to go, more action, more mind altering substances to enhance the experience further.

Someone in Singapore calling another city "sterile" certainly takes the cake.

LoL. The usual alcohol should be good enough. Have you visited home recently? The scene has changed recently. More vibrant. How do you deal with the no lak-sa, no char kway teow, no orrr luak thingy? That's the only thing I cannot come to terms with when I stayed in Oz.

You're either living in the stone age or grossly ignorant. All that greasy, artery clogging stuff is available all over the place in NZ cities.

I never consumed that crap when I was in Singapore and I'm not about to start now.

I was in Singapore 8 months ago before they implemented the liquor curfews and even then I found it far more boring compared to Auckland. I can't image what it's like now. I'm sure the oppressive heat hasn't gone away either.

If all Singapore has to offer is nightlife I feel sorry for your kids growing up there. You don't want your sons and daughters to become addicted to "clubbing" would you?

They get a decent education, and employment opportunities. I have to fair in my critique. It is not difficult to do $15-30k a month here when one knows know. I don't see such opportunities prevalent in Oz and NZ for a chinese. They have to give the beautiful NZ/Oz outdoors a miss. We can just visit, or they can find me there after I have done my time here. At the moment, I still like my char kway teow. The way it is cooked here. Funny thing is I only miss the grease when I am away.

I am told one can drop the alcohol when confronted by an officer and just walk away. NZ has alcohol restrictions too, no? This law was meant to prevent bored and drunk FWs from becoming a public nuisance.

Someone should have listened to his daddy to keep this place at 5m max. The mess we are in for a little more growth is just not worth it. The young prince in not wanting to drop the ball, messed up the entire game.

It's a bit more liberal now compared to 20 years ago. It can still be a lot better. I guess there are trade offs. Too liberal, people taken advantage. OMG. I am actually talking the crap they dish out...
