There are tons of people who are using their hard earned money to generate more money for themselves. Call them investors or entretreneurs, there's nothing wrong in the persuit for a better life. I have missed out a couple of good opportunities in my life and I know I am missing out on another one now - to build a boutique hotel (I'll regret this in the years to come). I have no guts nor all the capital I needed to start a business on my own so I'll continue to see my bosses' mood swings. What I have made is peanuts compared to those 'Gurus' at the WallStreet but I wanted to highlight that it would have taken me 2 times my work cycle to achieve what I have now had I depended on my salary alone.

Bro Fauxpax's statements are very sound.. History has proven that GREED has caused men much pain and I have resigned to the fact that I can never overcome GREED but I have developed ways to check myself and keep it under control, making sure the blowouts are contained. If my persuit for better living causes my family nucleus to breakdown or my quality of life to deteriorate then I am trying too hard or trying to fit into a shoe that's too big for me.. otherwise there's nothing wrong with having aspirations and working hard to achieve those goals.

I live with that same principle too.. but I want to add a little.. if I dont wake up tomorrow for some reason, my wife has enough to go through old age and my children has a choice to either study at NUS or some decent UNIs oveseas. Those are my basic responsibilities to my family. I also need a 'few more' dollars to cheong the KTVs tonight.

Again, I wish to irreterate that my achievements is just a drop in the ocean compared to the 'real' investors out there or even most of my peers. I shared my experience cos I believe there's a balance we can strike between savings vs investments... We can increase on our savings with some calculated risks.

History is not just a chronology of events to be told but to be learnt so one can overcome it if it happens again. Similarly, the past economic downturns should not make us FEAR the current Financial Crisis. Those who have learnt from the crisis in 80s and late 90s should be well positioned to weather out the next few 'slowing quarters' and stand equipped to single out and CAPITALIZE on the various opportunities to make money when things improve.

66.6% of the people decided that they want to put up with this crap. After elections what went up? Utility, petrol, bus, mrt, hp etc etc even the freaking postage stamps. Now the whole world is in turmoil and these fvckers can still raise electricity and dare to say that electric is not peg to the global oil price as it is peg to gas or whatever shit prices.

Here's some interesting signs to see... Nikkei dn over 5% on opening this morning.. USD/YEN & AUS/USD looking to test the 100 and 70 marks respectively. I lost count of GBP/YEN...

The temptation to buy in anticipation of the sharp & quick rebound is strong.. Too much risk to take for that few thousand bucks Not my cup of tea.. I'll wait for clearer signs

I am not rich enough to throw cash away.. Taking RISK is one thing... Everybody likes to take BIG RISK (Greed) but fail to realize if they have the ability to stomach the RISK. Your neighbour(10 million assets) is investing 1 million bucks at the same time.. Everyone has a different RISK appetite and it's important that one comes to terms with that before he ventures out. That way he'll always end up on a positive note.

Just taking on 'blind' risk is like listening to a coffeeshop rumours which are usually wrong. Being strong (rich) is not enough to overcome this market unless you want to donate $$$ into the system. It is more important to know WHEN to take on the risk and HOW to MANAGE that risk.

I have nothing against Personal investors.. but even they are sort of compelled to sell what the company ask them to. I prefer to manage my own monies(not that much anyway). That way I have only myself to blame if things go wrong
