You will be surprised how expensive it might get retiring in Thailand. A french friend of mine told me he spend more here than in France.

We all know the main reason for most people who choose Bangkok as a place to retire, there is no cheap way of going about it. If you want a place cheap for retirement i recommend some far flung province in Thailand.

overseas in thailand can also spend more. locals hear your accent rightaway price go up. feed your thai gf and family cost you more too

Well, most people choose to retire in Bangkok due to easy access to the night industry. With time in your hand, it's very easy to go a little out of control. I don't think most people chose Bangkok because it is a retirement friendly, but if you are really rich then Bangkok would be perfect!

Of cos if you retire here with your wife, then it might be another story. But i don't see many people with wives who choose to retire here.

The problem is ppl go to LOS and they dont live like poor thais, is he eating hawker food daily? or eat buffets and restaurant western food? is he staying in bungalow or the serviced apartment that is less than 10k bht per mth? And is he downing beers at 7 eleven before entering the clubs? Bro , i am able to do all this(its extereme and i am not showing off but its save u alot of money and make u richer.)Lastly, is he living by himself or feeding a thai lady? lol......

No offence to ur fren, but i dislike French ppl, their ego is big and they wont live like the poor(its their culture). You wanna live for a good 25 years when you only got slightly more than 300k SGD? how u do tt? live like the poor, forget about ur EGO.... lol.... There is no way in hell France is cheap to live in! europe is freaking expensive, my german fren was telling austria was more expensive to live in than hungary and germany lol..... SEA is cheap to live in if u talk about world's standards!

Oh ya, why Retire at Bangkok? There are so many better and cheaper place in LOS...... For seasoned campaigners who always go LOS, bangkok is the last place to retire in :P

U will get sick of sex entertainment once u retire in BKK. Every day eat shark fin, u will also get bored.

Bro, er when i was in patts, there are honest hawkers who write signs there: 40 bht usually for fried rice, char siew rice or curry noodles. I only scare tio chope and i dunno what they sell so i go for hawker wif price tag and pictures of the food they sell. How much is 40 bht? in singapore, this SGD$1.70 can makan what to make u full? nothing... lol... U are robert if you make urself become one, dont complain and blame others .... Oh ya i only went there once to eat fried price, the price tag big big leh still 40 bht wif FREE ice water lol(singapore bo pia and Ice kosong(Ice water) also cannot buy wif 2x 20 baht notes).

We dont have to be thai to get such price, is whether u smart enuff to recognize which hawker is fucked up or which hawker is honest... I have paid 40bht for half portion of chicken rice, but i also paid 35 bht for a good curry noodle with spring onions and other ingredients(super filling) in a very low end food court... And somemore they supply ice water leh WTF, in taiwan, not so cheap but i also get this service. Singapore GOOD? u kidding me, our pay good lah and we safe country and we got good education system but country too small so fucking boring, but wad else is good? nothing for the mid income and low income, period.....

I agree with you partly on the french but again over generalization, not everyone is the same.

I believe there are so many places to retire other than Bangkok, but you still see a truckloads here.

As for me, i would probably retire in the Bangkok, its not expensive if you are not into the night scene.

Firstly i never thought i am Thai and obviously i have met situation where they try to increase the price. All i do is smile and walk away. Like any business transaction, if you are not happy, you can always walk away. How often does it happen? Hardly.

Does this kind of things happen on Thai, of cos it does.

Yup i agree with you, that is when alcoholism and drugs kick in. But i have to say it hardly happens to our asian counterparts. Mostly our farang brothers. I have a friend who works in the British embassy, he was telling me that i won't believe the amount of corpse he has to arrange to be send to UK. The Pattaya news paper is like an obituary.

What i can only say deal wif the kc trap well, u can be very good handler of de kc trap in sg but in LOS its a different ball game. In sg, the seasoned lvl of wl/fl are intermediate. In LOS, the standard there is past pro liao, its expert. U think u smart but they are way betta than u lol...... Thai tomyams alreadi drilled and trained well by some cheapskate brits and russians liao lol....

Agreed. Freaking Ang Mohs see Thailand and some SEA countries as drug heaven and big whore house. Every other day we see Ang Moh died due to drug overdose. And their media constantly putting Thailand in a bad light
