Is it very difficult to gauge the meaning of thai words?

Take english for example. There's a whole ton of english slang words out there. English language is borrowed from many languages.

Take bling bling for eg. Pretty easy slang word to understand.

How about explosionessgreatnessloveyouallness? What if someone put such a stupid word in their profile? Firstly i doubt anyone would do it but if someone did and you asked an ang moh what it meant he could somehow explain it to you that this person is playing around.


What disappoints me is that some of you asked your thai friends and they could not even say for certain what those words mean. I doubt thai language is so far reaching like english for eg so that a british person can talk about Uk slang like chav that a non uk person cannot understand but still can google the word "chav" and know what it means.

As a non Thai I can only guess that's because the words you asked is not a proper Thai word and we do not know the context of it being used.

The Thais also have many variants in their language, eg NE (Isaan Lao, Korat), North , South. Some even speak Khmer (in districts bordering Cambodia).

So unless we know the speaker is using which dialect and in which context ,we can only guess......
