Re: Times are bad, Boss pls have a SBF forum for jobs openings
The thing is ECONOMY is really bad, all service related sectors are affected.
But there are some people who are still not aware of how bad the situation is... Of cos, for any interview, do your homework, if people ask you to go for interview, you better know what the company is doing. Economy is bad, if you do not have experience, etc. Stop dreaming about US rated average pay structure... I've seen a lot of such people, especially those who do not know their stuff well but very yaya papaya in interviews, especially the older generation when they see that interviewee is younger than them. Stay humble, do your homework, do not expect high figures in such lousy economy will definitely secure you a job.

When you look at the number of retrenchment worldwide, it is frightening. I think what we can do is just stay vigilant and hope for the tide to be over soon...

Re: Times are bad, Boss pls have a SBF forum for jobs openings
Hi All, Just wanna share my humble views........
I had been unemployed for 12 months. During this trying period, went for countless interview through personal references, head hunters & advertisements. None of these interviews ended up in a job offer. Logically so during this period, my finance sis real low. Have anything constructive to contribute to the extent that you doubt your own existence. Those you think are your freinds dissapoint you & those you think are jerks or ass-holes turn up to lend you a helping hand. Personal experience & lessons that I learned from this challenging period is: Finances: It is fine to be umeployed provided you have more than enough finances to see you through. So, during your hey days, remember to save for rainy days. Existence: The hardest part to live with when one is unempoyed is the perceptions of ones wothiness & capability. It is because during this period, one is not doing anything constructively & productive. What I did was I read a lot during this time to engage my mind & also not to allow myself to be disconnected from the society for too long. The key message here is to always always stay positive by engaging your mind. Friends: During prosperity, my friends know me. In adversity, I know my friends. How true & real is this statement!!!! Really treasure those friends that had been through thick & thin with you... Thankfully, by the Grace of GOD, I will be leaving for China either after Christmas or early Jan 2009 to enbark on a new career. I am prsently waiting for the approval my China working visa. In conclusion, NEVER NEVER have doubt of one's own capability during this trying period. Must have a high opinion of ourself. If we can't even think good things about ourself, who will??? Stay positive & continously upgarde & improve ourself. Also, patience is critical & perseverence is also very important... Once again, Just my humble view.... |

It is better to light one candle than to curse the darkness.
Since we cannot direct the wind, we can adjust the sails by taking advantage of the time to improve ourself through reading and learning. Francis Bacon said "Natural abilities are like natural plants; they need pruning by study". |

i mean on the spot i can only say, I will try my best to learn asap and contribute asap. then say how come in the application i put 10/10 for english? i say merely indicate my english is more than adequate for job. Then he ask me what i get for A level GP? knncb, i say B3, then he ask O level? i say A2. To me is quite good what, if u so particular about 10/10 or 9/10 or 8/10 then put a note there saying kindly justify your own grading before entering your fluency level lor...sigh... Then during interview dun even want to reveal detail of the job, the jobscope put on advert super brief. Then he try to trick me , ask me u wan management, technical or project management? i say project management, then he stare at me and say,"we dun do project management here" knnccb! then i try to expalin i looking for mix of management/technical role that's why put project management as normally it offers that mix of exposure Then he stare at me,"I am not saying u will go this function but I am trying to gauge what you want!" knnccb, where got interviewer gauge what u want, i come to interview is with attitude I am willing to take on what you want, as long as u ok to accept me mah. In the end, his sidekick explain to me the jobscope and the detail of it, then i able to answer my relevant experience in the area required. at leat likdat more civilised, the S-hole like wanna makan u and pin u donw like a insect lidat. |

Re: Times are bad, Boss pls have a SBF forum for jobs openings
Hi .....Besides the qusetion: "Why the company must employ you?"
Some really great top notch interviewer will follow up by asking: 1) If you are paid half of what you are drawing now, will you still join us? & why or why not? 2) When will you resign? Why & why not? Basically, interview is a size up game. The interviwerer & interviewee is trying to size up each other. I don't deny the fact that some interviwerer are really ass-hole... |
