Again, my sentiments exactly ... our strength is our tight defence.
I really won't be surprised to see Rafa play a 4-5-1 formation to frustrate Milan by absorbing all sorts of pressure before counting on speed of our younger players for fast-breaks.
At the end of the day, LFC will not dread going to penalties ... the boss (as well as the lads) believe Reina is good enough to shut out all Milan penalty attempts.

It should be Riise/Kewell (LM), Alonso & Mascherano (CM), Gerrard (AM) & Pennant/Bellamy (RM) ...

Dun think Rafa will be going for Tevez ... simply he's too similar a player to Kuyt, who was already a big-ticket buy from not so long ago.
On the personal front, Tevez is more "buddy" with Heintze than with Mascherano ... he was even caught on film celebrating with Manure at a night-club after they won the EPL. So most likely he's gonna be playing for them next season.

cant remember whether CM has that formation or not cos i always used custom formations. i used 4-2-3-1 to indicate that while mascherano and alonso r termed as midfielders, they would most likely have mostly defensive duties, mop up and both are fully capable of hitting those accurate long passes out of defence to the attacking players, namely the striker, the attacking central midfielder and the wingers who will mainly harrass the aged defence. just my way of trying to show a more detailed 4-5-1 cos there r many ways to describe a 4-5-1. sheffield (whom i think totally deserved to go down) played 4-5-1 too, by putting 5 across midfield to crowd out any creativity, which meant that players trying to support the attack will have to go a long way to do so... thus limiting their attacking options. not good to watch. too kiasu and too kiasi!!!

I think arbeloa is a suspect left back. He has been caught a few times playing in the left back position. Will rather Riise play. Defensively, Riise isn't that much better than Arbeloa but offensively, his mid-range missiles are world class. I use the word mid-range cos otherwise I dunno how to describe Alonso's from our own half shots
personally, i would prefer to use riise as left wing simply bcos no matter what, he is still defensively more sound than kewell. riise is more ready to track back and be more effective while kewell, i dont really see him doing such. in fact i see kewell making half-hearted tackles more often than not... arbeloa is still ok lah, but i do see that he makes risky tackles though. too bad for aurelio is injured but no use crying over spilt milk. but arbeloa does very well to support the wingers, always there to give the wingers an extra outlet to pass out of danger and does combine well on both flanks...

must ensure kaka work hard for the ball, and also pirlo.
my point exactly, bro. totally exact....

not too sure about that... think rafa will start with a more compact and more defensive team. i worry about kewell though... sometimes he completely drifts out of games whenever he loses confidence. is it too early to start him after such a lengthy absence? i would prefer that pool put him in later in the second half and let him run at very tired and old italian defenders...

gattuso in my humble opinion, is actually more valuable to milan than any other player. he epitomises the team and he presents himself as a constant threat. he doesnt need form, he just runs the opposition down week in, week out. that said, i agree that no matter what, it is going to be an exciting game to watch... ball's now in gerrard court, it is up to him to stand up and grab the game by the scruf of the neck, something which he has really been doing lately although he is still playing well. hopefully, he is saving up his best for the last game of the season...

That depends on how Rafa wants to play the game. If Kewell starts, then it means taking the game to the Italians from the go. If as a sub, then more as an adrenalin shot late on but keep it tight before that. Of course it depends very much on Kewell but he certainly looked hungry in the last couple of sub appearances. Can't blame him after all the lost time.

yup yup, and rafa is not exactly someone we can predict very well. even opposing coaches dont get him right most of the time.
to be fair to kewell, he has looked hungry alright. however, against what opposition? i worry for him cos he doesnt strike me as a big game player... maybe my memory is failing me again, but i cant remember him really stepping up during big games... but of course, there is no doubt he is a decent player.

Read somewhere that Pool is ready to bid for Darren Bent for 15 millions pounds instead...
if this deal does go thru..it will be quite exciting for Pool..imagine with a midfiled that boast Gerrard and co.... Bent will do much better as compare to his days at Charlton (with no disrespect)..
but the question..is who should be his ideal partner..Kyut, Bellamy or Crouch?

whatever the case.. we trust Rafa's decision... whether to add another Lationo or Brits into the squad..
Heskey..nah..cannot compare Bent with Heskey..in terms of finishing...Bent is much ahead of Heskey...
As for Tevez... though he flourished towards the end of the season..the rest of the season ..he is almost anonymous...and from what the report had said..'Tevez had given up on the English language'.....mayb he is starting to pick up Italian or German....

can both come???
heskey has his own merits. he was actually trying his best to help wigan this season. got to give him credit for it.
darren bent is a different kind of player. sometimes, his finishing is scary, sometimes the misses were scary, just like tevez. but one thing for sure, both can be counted to work their socks off, harassing defenders. however, they r not the answer to my desire for pool, a fox in the box... potential yes to both, would they make pool a better team, yes! both would qualify as masterstroke signings in years to come, but for an immediate big payout, i dont think so.
however, if i have to choose between one of them, bent, it is. on his day, he cannot be contained by anyone... tevez in my opinion, is more of a streaky player. problem is rafa needs his players to perform consistently to make his plans work, which is why i prefer bent. cheers, all.

Whoever they purchase end of the day the team effort needs to be there always attacking and not giving away possesion so easily support for the strikers and taking all their half chances make every match a cup final and liverpool would be true champions again one day.

totally agree... but the difference between champs and 2nd place (also known as the 1st loser) is belief. that, in my humble opinion, i have not seen it in any liverpool team for a long time. one needs lots of belief to win the premiership... can see rafa trying to instill that by slowly picking out his main rivals to pieces. it would be manure's turn before long...
i predict once pool has overcomed that and develop the ability to grind out results against the smaller teams, the 19th title would be in sight. then after that, we can expect a glut of them...
a bit out of point, but just what i m thinking of in the middle of the workday, bored to bits although there is a ton of work on my desk.

Should Rafa play Kewell ? Any comments ?
